I am, this season has me on edge because in the championship the top 4 teams or so just rarely get beat and it gets to me, even with a 9 point or so gap. It's a long long season
Re: Preview: Newcastle Utd vs Blackburn Rovers
Boooooo! Typical Newcastle, beat the hard teams, lose to the relegation sides.

What? We rarely get beaten.gawalls wrote:I know I'm being negative and I apologise for that it's just I'm seeing a pattern on how teams are beating us, when they sit back and wait patiently is when we struggle and it does concern me a littleMultipleJesuses wrote:

I don't know why but it's villa I'm concerned about, Bruce has done so many miles in the championship over the last few years

b ut when we do ie Fulham, Huddersfield, wolves and Blackburn is when they all set up against us the same way and the more we're at the top of the table the more teams are gonna do that against us.
We need to find a way to break them down when they try this like Liverpool did against Sunderland today

Literally every team sets up like that against us and we usually break them down.

I honestly think Rafa should go. He totally f***ed us today with his squad rotations. I wish we had someone like Warnock. He knows how to set up a championship team. God this acid is good!

Murphy needs game time, those two want dropping for their performances today, Perez was worst player at Leeds as well. Gayle did more in 10 minutes than these two did all game.gawalls wrote:I also rate mitro, it's just perez I'm personally not keen on. Unless he's knackered then Gayle needs to start every league match.

Where was Toondes's match thread? If I'd known he wasn't doing one I wouldn't have put us in my acca, and might have passed my ticket on, guaranteed loss.

Re: Preview: Newcastle Utd vs Blackburn Rovers
Just got back from the match, 7hr round trip.
First half was crap, we never got going. Mbemba and Gamez particularly were well off the pace. Thought Shelvey and Hayden did ok in midfield, Richie and Atsu showed some good bits but not often enough. Perez may as well have not been on the pitch, complete waste of time. Mitrovic did well in the first half in particular.
Think Rafa took too long to change it. We did create a few decent chances in the second half but our finishing was awful today. Gayle may have taken a chance.
But we're still two points clear at the top and 6 clear of third, if I was offered that position cone the end of November at the start of the season I'd have taken it.

Yeah but yesterday was actually a perfect reminder that there is a long way to go, still got some difficult away games and a bad habit of struggling with teams at the bottom of the league, this needs to be addressed, because it could cost us promotion and if we do go up it is something that needs to be changed.Bodacious Benny wrote:Just got back from the match, 7hr round trip.

I missed the game yesterday but the bits in bold I find very easy to believe. If I had one criticism of Rafa so far it would be the time he takes to make changes and as for Perez well this season was his time to prove himself and he isn't. He's scored goals yes but no less than you'd expect someone playing up top to get in the best team in the league, if a Spanish club (never Barca) does come in for him I'd take him to the airport.Bodacious Benny wrote:Just got back from the match, 7hr round trip.

Re: Preview: Newcastle Utd vs Blackburn Rovers
To be in the last two games he's been the worst player at Leeds and well was very poor yesterday, will be very lucky if he starts at Hull on Tuesday night, hasn't got the bottle for playing with a big crowd when a comfortable win is expected like yesterday. Not the only player who falls into this category for me.TBC wrote:I missed the game yesterday but the bits in bold I find very easy to believe. I don't even look for excuses with him, I just think he's not that good and that's all there is to it.cbrad NUFC wrote:To be in the last two games he's been the worst player at Leeds and well was very poor yesterday, will be very lucky if he starts at Hull on Tuesday night, hasn't got the bottle for playing with a big crowd when a comfortable win is expected like yesterday. Re: Preview: Newcastle Utd vs Blackburn Rovers
It was a s**** game, especially first half. I was expecting us to get beat and don't really care too much. We'll still win the league but the odd loss every now and again will keep us grounded.
We play on Tuesday and Friday as well. We needed to make changes and the Hull game is by far the most important this week.
I've not seen any highlights yet but was it a back pass. I was at the other end of the ground but it certainly looked like it. Should have been a red for the Blackburn keeper.
Also we could have had a pen when Mitro was elbowed in the face though the handball pen shout definitely wasn't a pen.
Second half, especially late on, we had plenty of good chances. On another day we would have buried at least two or three if those. It just wasn't our day.

I stopped doing them when the preview threads started. Seemed a bit pointless having two.

It was a clear back pass from where I was. Keeper doesn't get a red for picking up a back pass tho.TJR wrote:It was a s**** game, especially first half.
