I wouldn't say Jon Dahl Tomasson was rubbish either, didn't play well for us (played out of position most of the time) and went on to have a very successful career elsewhere.

Still think he could have turned out to be a decent player for us.
I don't consider Mbiwa to have ever been rubbish for us. More often than not he was let down by those around him or shoehorned into full-back.

He moved to a mid table Liverpool and struggled to get into their team. When was he player of the year exactly?

He was here for 4 seasons. His first 2 seasons he was in and out of the side despite us not having another left back. N'Zogbia and Duff were preferred to him. In the Championship he was class, no arguing that. Then the next year he was good but hardly set the league alight. We sold him for £7m. 6 months after we sold Carroll to the same club for £35m.
Actually he done very well when he first moved to Liverpool. N'Zogbia and Duff were preferred to him when he had only joined the club.
They were in and out for him for 2 seasons. That's literally half his whole time here and two-thirds of his Premier League spell here.

Yeah, Duff and N'zogbia were both gone by the time we were a couple of games into the Championship. Just as made up as his player of the year mind...

From wiki:
José Enrique's performances were rewarded when he was made the official Newcastle United Player of the Season for 2009–10, voted for by the fans. He also achieved the accolade of being named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year alongside Newcastle teammates Fabricio Coloccini, Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll.[5] José Enrique scored his first goal for the club in a 2–0 league win over promotion rivals Nottingham Forest on 29 March 2010.

Just at the end that he was dropped for Damien Duff then. 24 starts out of 38 games, not exactly a mainstay.

He joined in 2007, played for 2 years before we went down.

Played in more or less every game he was fit for bar like 5 games at the end of the season. So you're wrong basically.

That's a stretch. He was the only left back in the squad but was still dropped for long periods in favour of out of position wingers.

No he wasn't, he was dropped for one spell at the end of the season. This is nit picking anyway.

Then was injured for the rest of the season when Harper elbow-dropped him in the pile after the 4th goal. <laugh>

Darren Ambrose <awe>

Was always decent for us and tried his best, was just a bang average player in a very good team I recall.

I remember him scoring a screamer for us - can't remember who against.

Not one of ours but I've always had a soft spot for Emile Heskey.

For us Ryan Taylor . He's s*** but bless him, he tried so hard!
