Hilarious moment, but they likely wouldn't have been within reach of the championship in the first place if not for him too.TJR wrote:Cost them the title with possibly the greatest moment in Premier League history.biggeordiedave wrote:

The 'Gerrard effect' outgrew the club after the 2005 and 2006 finals. It was all about him after that.biggeordiedave wrote:How did you come to this conclusion?ALF wrote:Lampard. Liverpool would have been a better team without Gerrard.

Is this just something you've made up or is it factual?ALF wrote:The 'Gerrard effect' outgrew the club after the 2005 and 2006 finals. It was all about him after that.biggeordiedave wrote:

Kindly deeds done for free!
Re: Lampard or Gerrard?
It's not factual, just an opinion. But every time Liverpool pushed for the title it was about Gerrard being able to finally win it. Any time they struggled it was all about turning to him. He loved it as well, trying 30 yard shots whenever in sight just trying to get that headline.biggeordiedave wrote:Is this just something you've made up or is it factual?ALF wrote:

Re: Lampard or Gerrard?
Gerrard for me. A complete midfielder.
It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city.
Re: Lampard or Gerrard?
Lampard, cannot even think of one argument for Gerrard.

Gerrard slipping on half way line was career highlight for me. As for Lamps he simply had the knack of being in the right place at opportune times . A rare skill. Nolan had it too for us .

Lampard was the better player. Gerrard gets a lot of plaudits though because he can put together a decent highlight reel for match of the day with the Hollywood balls and occasional 30 yard daisy cutter.
I dunno
Re: Lampard or Gerrard?
Id be willing to take either of them in their prime as a decent bench warmer to sub on for Colback from time to time.

Lampard. Pisses me off his England career suffered to accommodate Gerrard aswell. Gerrard got the headlines because he stood out in what was a pretty mediocre Liverpool team for years, Lampard just very quietly and efficiently did his job for Chelsea to a very high standard every year. No contest.
Re: Lampard or Gerrard?
Yea if was going to say, both of them were amazing midfielders. Lampard scoring record speaks volumes though.

Lampard's club career:Bodacious Benny wrote:To me they're two different types of midfielder which I hate all these 'who was best' polls on the BBC etc.
But if I was picking it would be Lampard every single day of the week. Better technically, better all round game, more goals and probably more assists (I haven't checked).
Played 852
Goals 256
Assists 178
Gerrard's club career:
Played 736
Goals 189
Assists 119

Worth adding Lampard scored some absolute screamers.Duke wrote:Lampard was the better player. Gerrard gets a lot of plaudits though because he can put together a decent highlight reel for match of the day with the Hollywood balls and occasional 30 yard daisy cutter.
