Abeid was average. I don't get the massive w*** fest over him. He was average at best here , Was ok in Greece , then got released and signed for Dijon . Played 30 times this season with zero goals. It's a no from me.

This, had a good amount of energy about him but he has had one good season in Greece and people have wanked themselves into a frenzy over him. Should be looking for better.

First off, he had 3 goals this year. Though even if he hadn't, he always struck me as a CDM, and going a season without a goal wouldn't have really meant much.

Secondly, he may have only been average in his time with us, but that average performance was when he was 20-22, and goodness knows we give the benefit of the doubt to plenty of other players for being young when they were older than that.

I'm not necessarily saying we should go after him, there are plenty of other midfielders out there and it's just the way of journalists and fans to latch onto names of former players and managers - but, I also don't think we should have cut bait with him when we did seeing how young he was and the fact he'd shown more promise than other players we've kept longer and given more chances to.

The thing with Abeid is we didn't see enough of him to truly judge his talent, he could have gone either way but his career so far has shown he was more likely to not make it with us, signing him would probably only have a very slim chance of progressing us and that's having to wait longer term, so signing him doesn't really sense to me when we can sign better players for instant impact.

When we let go of Abeid I thought he would have done much better than he has since. That said he always looked comfortable for us. Wouldn't be a bad squad signing.

I can't find the source, I'm pretty sure it was Kristian Heneage (spelling) who said that Townsend really hates the thought of leaving London and that joining us first time was an exception because of his situation at the time.

I liked Abeid when we had him. However, we have on similar aged young DM in Hayden. surely if we want another DM we'll want experience, otherwise it just stymies Hayden's development. And lets face it Hayden has played many more English league games

I suppose but I definitely think he's given Conte something to think about with his performances in the last few games.

Like anything it depends on who they buy first, it'll be one in late in the window you'd think.
