The Tammy Abraham Thread
Looks like this is close to being done:

Have to admit I'm still not sold on this move, but I trust Rafa's judgement.

If its true Mitro is out then I can understand this more than I did before, would still leave us a spot for a marquee striker, maybe we could temp Batshuayi on a permanent

Yeah if he is a Mitro replacement with an option to buy then i'm relatively happy. But I still think we need somebody that is significantly better than we have currently got on top of this signing.
Re: The Tammy Abraham Thread
I think we have no chance mate. I could have seen a loan, but as someone on here pointed out on another thread, it would be counter productive for Chelsea to loan us two strikers in a one striker system when they wish for both to receive a starting role.Don Sholeone wrote:If its true Mitro is out then I can understand this more than I did before, would still leave us a spot for a marquee striker, maybe we could temp Batshuayi on a permanent
Given the choice I'd obviously go for Michy but we don't know if that was ever possible. The quotes banded around last week were fake, he's on holiday.

That's why I said a permanent , Abraham would still get plenty of game time with himself, Gayle and Batshuayi being our options.TBC wrote:I think we have no chance mate. That's why I said I don't think we'd have a chance unless it was a loan! We don't have £30m to spend on one player, and Chelsea would want their money back.Don Sholeone wrote:That's why I said a permanent , Abraham would still get plenty of game time with himself, Gayle and Batshuayi being our options.

Depends on how much we could potentially receive for Mitrovic, which I believe could easily be around £15mTBC wrote:That's why I said I don't think we'd have a chance unless it was a loan! He's a good player .. Chelsea think a lot of him and won't sell him at any price ..
Let's hope we get him and he does the business for us ..
I think we need 1 or 2 big name signings to get the city lifted and also at least 4 or 5 other signings. Because currently we have a championship team

Exactly how I feel. More of an instinctive striker than Mitro although we do lose a big presence in that position. Hopefully Mitro makes way for a marquee signingDonkey Toon wrote:Yeah if he is a Mitro replacement with an option to buy then i'm relatively happy. Pointless signing. Not a chance in hell of there being a permanent option.
Re: The Tammy Abraham Thread
If he keeps us in the league is it pointless? What's to say that Chelsea won't spend big on strikers this summer and next and make Abraham redundant?ALF wrote:Pointless signing. Not a chance in hell of there being a permanent option.

Lukaku will most likely join them once again, which will make him a transfer record, which should open some doors... That said, the door will be wide open for Everton tooRamone wrote:If he keeps us in the league is it pointless? With players coming and going whenever better money, extending contracts or higher level CL football offered I couldn't care less who wears the shirt so long as they perform amd my team win . Player loyalty isn't worth jack .

Highly rated youngsters tend to last more than one year in a long term deal.TBC wrote:Because players always see out their contracts...ALF wrote:

Re: The Tammy Abraham Thread
But Chelsea have a notoriously bad record with youngsters. I'd be disappointed if he was the only forward we signed, but I don't think that's going to be the case.ALF wrote:Highly rated youngsters tend to last more than one year in a long term deal.TBC wrote:

This. Also, we could spend big money on an amazing young striker, and if he has one good season, he'll likely force his way out for a bigger club anyway, and we'll still have developed a player for another club.Ramone wrote:But Chelsea have a notoriously bad record with youngsters.
