Mackems in meltdown

Post by Fonda Trevanion » Sat Sep 09, 2017 5:55 pm

6 games in and the threads have started. I recall them telling us it was a pub league about this time last year so not really any sympathy for them. Not sure how much is Grayson's fault but we did the double over Preston last year without much trouble.

The Grayson Out threads have of course begun!

Maybe Ashley has some redeeming features after all :)

To be fair they scoffed but grudgingly appreciated we spent fortunes to drag ourselves up . Saying it was a pub league should suit them as they're playing like a pub team at the moment .
Ashley tells you it's raining. Do you look out the window?

<laugh>

That forum is a hilarious read.

They want the manager sacked already, booed Rodwell everytime he touched the ball, threw a bottle off an opposition player, threw coins off each other and started fighting amongst themselves in the stand.

A new low even by mackem standards <laugh>

I love how before every match there's a thread to predict the attendance. In the lead-up ITKs will announce what they've heard sold, and then come matchday they'll make an excuse as to why crowds will go up later, e.g. once we start winning, once Short leaves, once the holidays are over, etc. Ultimately some will post attendance averages from other years they were in the Championship to show it's always the same, some will say it's a protest, others will bring up 1993ers to fend off comparisons to our attendance. But it's all hilarious to read how insecure they are about their world's greatest fans.

One or two Mackems are distraught,
The Championship is not what they thought,
Last year it was a division,
They castigated with derision,
A Sunday League, for pub teams,
And Premier League has-beens,
But the penny, like their team, has dropped,
Last year's rot has not been stopped,
The reality for Sunderland is now quite stark,
The Championship is no walk in the park.

Still think they'll do what villa did last season. Bad start but will still stay up okay.

"We haven't underestimated it at all.

Our last 6 seasons at this level (last one 10 years ago with totally different owners, players and manager) have seen us finish 1st four times and 3rd twice, so it is impossible for us not to at least finish in the top 3."

Deluded... <laugh>

Wonder if Murphy gets to twist the knife tonight - might be a fair bet that one coz he's miles better than anything they have up front :)
