That goal on half time was gutting . Remember how far we’ve come in a year and the first half was really positive .

Defensively we were awful, personally thought all their goals were preventable, that back four looked so disjointed at times. It's like we s*** ourselves after going up an lost all composure.

Their first three goals were all caused by a ball looped in at the far post. Pretty annoying to concede in that manner, especially given that Rafa is so focused on defence.Don Sholeone wrote:Defensively we were awful, personally thought all their goals were preventable, that back four looked so disjointed at times. I really don't understand why we can go out and attack Man U but then we play Burnley and Bournemouth and we look s*** scared.

Because those are games we’re expected to win whereas you can enter games against the top teams without fear because no one will blame you for losing as long as you look like you were trying.Ramone wrote:Their first three goals were all caused by a ball looped in at the far post. Hopefully it’s Rafa acknowledging the fact that we should have taken the game to Burnley and Bournemouth and set us up with more attacking intent (I much prefer Joselu and Gayle starting together).Ramone wrote:Their first three goals were all caused by a ball looped in at the far post. Also, Pogba being back in their line up allows them to play more openly and attack teams.

Yesterday was a free game. We were never expected to get anything from it. If we sat back and tried to play for the 0-0 we'd have got beat anyway, the gulf in talent is too big. We had to have a go, which we did and we put in a performance to be proud of first half.
We've got what is for the most part a championship squad. Rafa tried to fix that in the summer but the money(/willingness to spend) wasn't there. Rafa was frustrated at the time because he's experienced enough to know that when we come up against the better sides (top 6) away from home, no matter how well organised and solid we are, we'll get beat regardless. At home we might be able to nick something if we revert back to the more defensive approach, Liverpool an example. We were also promising against Spurs until Shelvey f***ed up. Away from home though, if we sit back against those sides we'll be beaten.
On paper we should arguably be relegated, our squad is definitely one of the weakest 5. We won't be relegated though because against the lesser sides (bottom 14), so far Burnley, Bournemouth, Stoke, Swansea, Brighton, Huddersfield, Palace, West Ham and Southampton we were more defensive and well organised. Sometimes it works and we get 1 or 3 points, sometimes we still get beat but so far we have got enough points from those games to be in a comfortable enough position. Keep doing what we are doing and we'll stay up. We've had a very good start to the season in terms of what was expected (bottom 3) and where we are (11th). By playing defensive and staying organised and compact we are playing to our strengths. If we just went for it like we did yesterday in every game we'd be relegated. Rafa has done a great job so far and knows what he's doing.
If this takeover goes ahead and we have one or two productive transfer windows then maybe we can think about going out to play attacking football every week. Until then, what we've been doing is definitely the most sensible approach to take.

Well he's not starting Mitro over Joselu anytime soon.

Do we not have a spare cone on the training ground that we can register?Juliet Papa Golf wrote:ALF wrote:

Was away at the weekend so just seen the highlights. I was always expecting to lose but on the upside we created two or three not bad chances as opposed to losing 1-0 at the likes of Huddersfield and Brighton without creating anything.
Hopefully get something against Watford on Saturday.

I'm the scumbag outlaw. You're the pillar of justice. Neither of us like looking at ourselves in the mirror. Do we have a deal?
