Heisen, if you're not careful footyfan will give you that many combinations, you'll think you're a safe.

I've never really got the dummett hate, basically he's not a flashy modern fullback so that makes him s***, he's solid and consistent enough for the premier league and we could do a hell of a lot worse than him.

Great news.
He's progressed loads this last year. He's very solid and we're much stronger defensively with him in the side.

Well deserved and I’m happy for him. He’s here until if/when we get someone better . Defence has looked better with him in it .

Great news and well deserved.
He's far from good in possession or going forward but is one of our better defenders defensively, which should always be the most important factor for a full back. Also clearly the best of our current LB's, as has been shown with our improved form since his return from injury.

Are you Aleksandar Mitrovic? I imagine all of your posts in his voice for some reason.Footyfan wrote:Heisen are you for real ! Me an you have had issues in the past ! Is this your way of getting back at me ! You sad little person !

I've been a big critic in the past, but since coming back from injury I think he's solid. Is he an absolutely world beater who'll ping in more crosses than your average winger? No. Is he a decent defender? Yes. For now that will do, plus his wages probably won;t be that much.

I mean... it's not the 80's where your full back stops on the halfway line. I'm interested to know when his previous deal was set to expire and whether it was actually necessary to extend it? It's a position which requires upgrading regardless. Sure, he's the best we have at the minute but that doesn't really tell us how good Dummett is. If we're going to break into the top half of the league, we need to improve on players who play full back and are exclusively good at defending.Don Sholeone wrote:I've never really got the dummett hate, basically he's not a flashy modern fullback so that makes him s***, he's solid and consistent enough for the premier league and we could do a hell of a lot worse than him.

Dummett isn't really an attacking force. But he's mainly about defending, allows the winger ahead to attack more. He's also surprisingly fast which helps against counters.

We are quite far away from the top half of the league, so not sure that's an issue right now. And even so, to get there I believe there are more pressing areas to replace than left back.Luque wrote:I mean... it's not the 80's where your full back stops on the halfway line. Even then as a top half team, Dummett would be good and inexpensive cover for LB and CB in my opinion, as opposed to having to buy one in.
I'm skeptical about any takeover, so in the meantime all players are in the context of our austere approach to spending. Can't let functional players go in that regime
