Situation at Sporting is crazy, but as far as I've been told the players are well within their rights to terminate due to employment laws i.e. the employer showed due care towards their employees resulting in injury.

Also if i was a betting man I'd wonder what the odds on Sporting getting relegated next season are? as you'd have to imagine with a general youth team there and I've heard potential transfer targets may be put off by the so called crisis there it could affect them quite badly

He'll do well there, they're a big club. That's a better move for him than Celtic would have been. Porto play in a stronger league (there's 2 or 3 decent teams rather than 1 team as in the SPL) and they can actually do alright in Europe too, unlike Celtic.

The main winner will be the players and their agents, it's a pretty unprecedented situation, many top players are suddenly available and they can demand crazy payments due to a lack of transfer fee

Yep, wages and signing on fees will be through the roof so we're definitely out of the running. Imagine what Chinese clubs might offer them too.

Just signed Afobe on a 6 month loan deal with obligation to buy in January. Seems an odd agreement but would surely mean no £15-20 mil bid for Gayle.

Their owner, Peter Coates is happy to back managers. A strike force of Gayle and Afobe in the championship virtually guarantees promotion so if they're willing to go for it and try and bounce straight back it'd be a good way of doing it.

I agree. 70 goals in 90 games for Sporting isn't enough even to have a little tickling in your balls.
