Nah. He suits the french league but when he basically said he only came to england cos his agent told him to and his fairly dire performances for us I wouldn't want him. Say what you like about townsend but he grafted for us.

I don't think we can say one way or another whether he would have suited the PL, given how fast he was shipped back. If every young player was given up on after that few minutes in a new league, almost every one would be a flop. I'd add, maybe our recruitment staff should have had more meaningful conversations with players back then to decide just how committed and adaptable to a new place they would be.

I get the impression that Thauvin wouldn't be busting a gut to get back and fulfill his defensive responsibilities as Rafa would demand. So for that reason alone there's not much point.

Don't disagree, I'm sure he wouldn't have been a great fit with him. Just saying, I find the amount of attention and criticism he gets from the chron and (some) fans a bit much, considering how brief his stay was. I don't presume much about any player I see play that little.

Yeah, I don't have anything against him one way or another. It didn't work out, it happens.

I actually think that Lascelles may move next summer or one after (depending on what happens with our season, and Rafa) to a CL level club, which would be fair enough as it'll be his best shot of establishing an international career.
