I've thought that for the last two seasons now though and I doubt I'm the only one.

He's failed to set the world alight barring a couple of nice little scoring runs but he looks like League 1 player, maybe a half decent Championship player at best.

I get the whole 'he's worth £60m to Palace' argument but it just makes me laugh that any good English player is instantly valued at £50m+ nowadays. Is there much difference between Shaqiri and Zaha? One is getting valued at around £15m (granted from a relegated side) and one at £60m. They'd probably return a similar number of goals/assists over the course of a season.

Definitely. Lascelles you could argue is worth £50m to us, but he's not actually worth £50m. The transfer market is just bonkers. I've just finished reading Sir Bobby's autobiography again and we made big signings at the time for around £4m for decent players (e.g. Milner), doesn't seem that long ago but in that relatively short time things have just gone nuts.

I'd rate Lascelles in this market at around £35-40m.
