Re: Players from (possibly) relegated teams
We have been linked briefly I think, but with Evans almost certainly gone for next to no money I can't see them letting Dawson go for anywhere near a resonably price. Understandably too. Unless he has a release clause. And whilst he's an okay defender, I don't think he's good enough to start for us.

Lascelles and Lejune have formed a decent partnership so doubt Dawson would want to sit on our bench.Toonwill wrote:Dawson from west brom would be ok for the right price. West brom had a decent defence it was up front they were toothless.
Dawson is a big threat in the air as well and this is an area we are terrible. We put in some good crosses but we don't have much to aim for.

Re: Players from (possibly) relegated teams
CB is the last position we should be concerned about, its where our squad is at its strongest.
Our 1st choice pairing are more than good enough going in to next season, and Clark is an ale 3rd choice. Just need to replace Mbemba at 4th choice if he goes really.

Re: Players from (possibly) relegated teams
I guess if he did go (which seems likely) then if we sign a new LB to add some depth there then Dummett could also be used as 4th choice CB if needed, assuming that the new LB is capable...beatski wrote:CB is the last position we should be concerned about, its where our squad is at its strongest.

Re: Players from (possibly) relegated teams
Dawson is more of a RB. Well, a Dummett-like RB in that he is a defender that defends and looks like a CB. He'd be a solid addition as a squad player. Could rotate him with Yedlin depending on opposition, could cover CB or play in a back 3/5 if we use that formation again.

I don't recall ever seeing him play as a RB

He's literally spent the last few seasons playing there for West Brom Are you thinking of Michael?Bodacious Benny wrote:I don't recall ever seeing him play as a RB

I spent the last two pages assuming people were talking about Michael Dawson.

I just messaged a friend who's been a ST holder at WBA for donkey's years and she says he's a CB.ALF wrote:He's literally spent the last few seasons playing there for West Brom Are you thinking of Michael?Bodacious Benny wrote:I don't recall ever seeing him play as a RB

Isn't it a favourite Pulism to play four CB's across the back and not use out and out fullbacks? News to me Dawson was a right fullback

Yeah pretty much, and he'd probably fit a CB into midfield if he couldCIH wrote:Isn't it a favourite Pulism to play four CB's across the back and not use out and out fullbacks? News to me Dawson was a right fullback

I'll believe that when I see it. Or I should say, Atletico can do a lot better than him, or will need to do a lot better if they're going to continue fighting for the title in Spain.Lassassinblanc wrote:Rondon wanted by Inter and Atletico
Re: Players from (possibly) relegated teams
I'd still say it's in the same way Dummett is a CB at LB. Before this/last season it was McAuley and Evans at CB, Hegazy came in and replaced McAuley.Bodacious Benny wrote:I just messaged a friend who's been a ST holder at WBA for donkey's years and she says he's a CB.ALF wrote:

Re: Players from (possibly) relegated teams
Rondon was a beast in La Liga with Malaga so I'm not surprised but yeah Atletico could do better if they want to challenge for the title but would be a good replacement for Torres who's left and Grizemen who's going to Barca. A Rondon/Costa partnership sounds like a nightmare for defenders so much brute force, strength and power. I'll take Rondon in our side to be honest if we sell Mitrov. If Joselu goes then Rondon/Perez/Gayle + NEW ST would be good. Need more aerial threats as Perez and Gayle too lightweight.I'm over Colo wrote:I'll believe that when I see it. Said a few times that Rondon would be a decent signing.
