That is indeed correct, I was at the match when we beat them 5-0 at home.UlversToon wrote:If I remember rightly Northampton Town were promoted with us to Division 1 in 1964/65 and after one season in the top flight suffered 3 relegations in 4 seasons ending up in Division 4 by 1968/69.
I guess you all remember that!

Would be funny if they became our feeder team, get the likes of Victor Fernandez, Armstrong, and some of the other youth down there

Re: AFC Sunderland
Sunderland falling to Division Three,
Is not just down to gravity,
Their current dire situation,
Results from their owner's abdication,
A lack interest and understanding,
Little investment or forward planning.
From touchline their manager can shout,
But there's no Gareth to bail him out,
Just kids, journeymen and loanees,
Who seen to go weak at the knees,
Whenever they take the lead,
And from winning positions, secede.
The league table does not lie,
Merely goes on to amplify,
Free from aberration or exaggeration,
The season's outcome in culmination,
And next season we shall see,
Sunderland in Division Three.

Smell that? You smell that? Karma, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
I love the smell of Karma in the morning.
You know, one time we lost 6 in a row.
When it was all over, I walked up to the Stadium of Light. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' mackem body.
The smell, you know that Karma smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... Victory.
Someday this war's gonna end "

Doubtful. Most of the debt is to Short, so unless he wants to take a 140m hit to get rid of them, they aren't going into administration anytime soon.R&B wrote:This isn't the bottom for them, dozen t**? At League 1 with 140 mill debt... Probably the Administration is just behind the corner.

They were taking about their TV revenue per season in The Chronicle.
2016/2017 - £93.5m
2017/2018 - £7m
2018/2019 - £1.5m
That's some f***ing hit .

League 1 doesn't get many televised games, but I think Sunderland will feature in a high % of them (like we did last season in Championship)

They'll still get their parachute payments from the first relegation won't they? Not sure how much that is but it should soften the blow a little.biggeordiedave wrote:This.Heisen wrote:

Re: AFC Sunderland
Parachute payment is about £30m next season, so if they weren't in such a mess financially that would be a far bigger budget than most of the other L1 teams combined.

Re: AFC Sunderland
I've read a few conflicting things, but I think they owe £70m to the bank with a two-year payment plan and interest of ~£8m. They also owe another £70m+ to Short. Of course it's not as simple as pumping all that money into paying off the debt, as they've still got astronomical outgoings as far as a League One club is concerned. Rodwell is rumoured to be taking a pay cut to £40k a week, which is still about twenty times higher than the average L1 wage.Bodacious Benny wrote:Yeah presumably that's all going to get swallowed up.biggeordiedave wrote:Parachute payment is about £30m next season, so if they weren't in such a mess financially that would be a far bigger budget than most of the other L1 teams combined.
They need new owners, desperately. I know Short is offering to give the club away for nowt, but you're still effectively paying £140m for a League One club. While the club undoubtedly has loads of potential, they're going to struggle to find someone willing to invest that much plus the money required to rebuild the squad from scratch.
