Wilshere (and Shelvey) Left Out of England Squad

Post by Chappy » Wed May 16, 2018 7:56 am

Could it mean? <uwot>
It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city.

He's actually played something like 2,500 minutes of football this season tbf to him. Granted a lot of that has been in the Europa League but it's still decent game time.

If Lallana goes that will be a joke.

Yeah I was surprised how much game time he’s had this season.

Have to make room for Livermore though don’t we.

Lallana and Livermore going is insane. I understand wanting to keep your core squad together but loyalty to underperforming/injured players has been one of our biggest downfalls over the last 20 years.

Is the squad announced today ? It’ll be a travesty if he doesn’t make it . I read somewhere yesterday that Shelvey isn’t even in contention but I don’t know how true that is. It would be typical England to pick players in reputation / big club status rather than form.

No wonder why some fans feel disconnected with the England team. No matter who the manager is, they still continue the same trend. I mean Le Tissier has chose his squad he’d take and for choosing Rashford he said ‘ he should be nice and fresh after having his playing time limited this season’. Really??

The decisions are laughable, no wonder we always falter in tournaments.

Shelvey isn't even an option in the BBC's 'Pick your World Cup Squad' thing.

Yeah I seen that yesterday, even though I’m sure he’s mentioned in their column on the same page.

Shelvey can’t be chosen because of his temperament but players coming back from injury can be chosen even though that’s still a risk. Another point, I mean with the media already saying he’s a risk of losing his head and also being on the biggest stage in world football, he’d be an absolute idiot to do anything stupid.

It’s favourtism at its finest, it was all very different with Rooney who was always prone to losing his head too, but he played for Manchester United.

Shelvey can't be chosen because his temperament and the lack of it. Since he didn't have the baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalls to steal a taxi at Barcelona.

Is there an actual time where the squad is announced? Thought it was 1pm but nothing yet.

To be fair, that's still quite a strong squad.

Cahill <laugh> he has been absolutely atrocious this season. And Welbeck. Welbeck's inclusion simply cannot be justified at all.

It's an entirely English phenomenon aswell, the Germans aren't taking the likes of Can, Gotze etc., because they haven't been in form or injured. But every single English manager of the last 20 years feels it's acceptable to take out of form/injured players to major tournaments. Same old s***, different tournament. Not a single ball playing central midfielder, what a joke.
