Are newly promoted clubs often vulnerable to losing their best players though? Usually they would go if they just missed out on promotion, or get relegated. I don't recall us losing anyone last season, other than the likes of Anita, Gouffran etc. Definitely a plus point for Fulham keeping those two though. I've a feeling Cairney will stay there quite a while, but if Sessegnon keeps his development going, there will be huge bids next summer.I'm over Colo wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 5:44 pmThey at least appear to be keeping their best players, like Sess and Cairney - which didn't look assured a few months ago.

Re: Other Clubs Transfers Summer 2018/19
Oh I definitely think promotion helped, but with how much those two have been linked with moves for a few years, I thought it possible they'd still get lured away. Sometimes it seems like clubs will let players go once they get them promoted - if they really want to leave. But it'd seem they're happy where they are for now.CIH wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 5:49 pmAre newly promoted clubs often vulnerable to losing their best players though? Palace look set to complete a deal for Max Meyer. This is a lad who asked Arsenal and Liverpool for 120k a week. If Palace are willing to offer that to him then the world really is gone crazy
I'll Hazard a guess

Apparently he's an attacking midfielder who got no goals and no assists in 24 games last season

He's only 22 and is well thought of in Germany but like Arsenal and Liverpool no club were willing to give him the money he wanted (even Bayern) as you stated he made got no goals or assists last season

He's put himself in a vulnerable position, but I'm sure someone will cough up. Surprised West Ham aren't sniffing around.

Supposedly wanted north of 10m in signing on and agent fees. Loads of fans on twitter were giving it the whole why are we not in for him malarkey, but its no surprise with those figures. If he has a good season he'll be wearing a Liverpool shirt in a years time.

Jordan Ayew who I believe we were previously linked with might be going to Palace (according to BBC gossip).

Credit to Klopp, he pulled in £12.5m for their 4th choice goalkeeper and £24m for their most crocked striker (which is saying something given that they have Sturridge on their books). Bravo.

Max Meyer to Palace, reportedly on a 170k week contract, no wonder nobody else picked him up.
That's reportedly more than David Silva, Kante, Mane and Eriksen are getting

Yeah there was loads about his exorbitant demands when we were (very briefly) linked with him. Supposedly agent/signing on fees well over 10m as well, some saying considerably more. A player with a lot of promise, but I won't personally lose any sleep because we didn't go in for him.

I'm sure that their agents will be renegotiating as we speak, can't expect those poor mites to survive on just £150k a week.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Thu Aug 02, 2018 10:22 pmMax Meyer to Palace, reportedly on a 170k week contract, no wonder nobody else picked him up.

To be fair , the £10m fees he’s asking for is instead of a transfer fee. Ridiculous amounts of money obviously but still cheaper than if you had to buy him from another club. Wages seem ridiculous too for someone pretty much unproven.

Yep, free transfers and never free. You end up paying the player and agent a fair whack. I'm sure we probably gave Ki a couple of million for a signing on fee.

Plenty of places reporting that Burnley are going to sign Joe Hart. Bizarre move for both, 3rd choice at best.
