I only saw the second half. It felt like 90 minutes.

Based on the tournament so far, I'd say the most competent side based on quality of opposition faced is Croatia. Us and Belgium aren't too far behind, and I'd argue Colombia and Uruguay could both be dangerous teams to avoid as the tournament progresses.

Haven't seen anything from any of the so called "bigger nations" that would suggest England couldn't beat them, but they're probably holding a lot back for the latter stages. If England can comfortably dispatch of Belgium on Thursday then I'll start to believe, but for now, getting out of the group stage after 2 games is a very good start.

Managing a national team, and managing a club team are very different positions. Credit to him for picking such a young (and so far exciting) XI and the early performance, but I don't think it's really proven anything about how he would do managing a club where he has to identify and buy players, work within a budget, manage them every day for most of a year. I'm not criticizing him, just think it's a different animal.
You could have saved all the typing and just said... Chris Coleman <laugh>
<laugh> True. That said, I don't think the ghost of Sir Bobby could have done much to help that tire fire of a situation on Wearside.

After the first round of matches I popped a bet on Uruguay to reach the final.

I still think they're quite possibly the best side I've seen in terms of attack and defence even taking into account some sub par opposition.

I'm really gutted, after the first round of games there hasn't been a single big fan go out so far.

Argentina, France, Spain, Germany and Portugal am got through.

I really thought there was going to be some upsets.

So many close ones though, and the big countries have had TONS of luck. Germany is not through yet, though they probably will.
I won't miss any of the teams that are out though, except Peru.
