Lads do you know nothing about haggling ;-)

If know the price of something, you start small and slowly work up the price to find a happy medium. I can guarantee Plea won't go for Nice's 27m valuation unless a bidding war starts.

I think we should start at €1 and see how we go <roll>

That isn't haggling. That's taking the piss.

Haggling isn't a great analogy because:
1) there is only one of the resource, unlike a shop where there are mutiple
2) there are other bidders, its not 1 to 1

Better analogy is corporate takeovers. Yes you want to bid low and be moved up... but if you go too low you won't be seen as serious and they will go other bidders.
Large part of success is research into what vendor might accept and what others might offer. And knowing at what price a low bid would nark them off

Can't we just tap someone up? That's what everybody else does isn't it...

Need to remember some players have clauses where they have to be notified of bids if a certain amount comes in (like the Suarez one) good way to test the waters.

Unfortunately if you listened to the rumours, every player and their dad only want to play at Barca, Manchester, Madrid, Juve, Bayern, Milan or Chelsea. Seems pretty hard to tap anyone up outside of that.

According to Chronic, our offer for Plea was around 20 mill pounds. And Nice want 27 because Lyon will take 20% of his next transfer.

Tbf any half decent striker is probably £25m now.

Given our strike force will be Gayle and Joselu if we don't sign anyone else then I'm down with Englebert:

And a 1 and a 2 and a 1, 2, 3, 4

Pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaa-se, release him, let him go!
For we have no decent strike force
To waste him in France would be a sin
Can we interest you in a striker of Spanish origin?

So many fans scoff at the bid and call it derisory because of hearing they want 27m (not that they know how much it even was), but it certainly is reasonable to expect Nice could have put out messages they'd accept less, and then moved the goalposts when they found demand for him.

£27m seems a bit much for this lad like...

£27m in the new £10-15m so sounds about right to me.

Saw a french football journo post that he has had injury issues, goes on streaks then barren runs.

Sounds like we are AGAIN trying to get a slightly discount striker. It doesn't work. U have to pay for a goalscorer
A slightly discount striker... for £27m. This statement really does show the state of football, doesn't it?

Jesse Lingaard set to be offered a new £150,000 a week contract too. Mental.

With limited budget under the current owner... everytime was/is like that every single window. Now we will try for Rondon because we will need a RB and probably a number 10 too.

Dortmund have entered the race for Plea now

they can offer Champions League football so you'd have to think any deal chance we had is gone

Seems hauntingly familiar to the PEA saga a few years ago.
