Weekend football (10th-12th August)

Assuming Ulvers is busy so here’s the first weekend football thread of the season!

Man Utd 1-0 up against Leicester with a Pogba penalty.

Pereira in midfielder looks quality for a youngster at Man Utd, and Chillwell and Maddison for Leicester are literally the two players our squad desperately needs.

Where's Ulvers? <fist> <fist>

Maddison looks like a very good player.

He does doesn’t he? Hasn’t looked out of his depth at all so far.

Leicester in general look good, shame they gave away a stupid penalty.

Rashford is not a good player.

Rashford is not a good player.
Or he's been played out of position and constantly rotated under Mourinho in a team that gets dominated in possession by Leicester.

I just don’t think he’s a 9, his pace is better utilised coming in from out wide in a front 3.

Always liked the look of Bailly, I know he’s been injured a bit but he’s a £30m defender who should be given a proper run in the team.

Like TBC says he's never a 9. Makes all the wrong runs and just isn't a good enough finisher. He scores less than Ayoze.

Sorry lads on the lash in the Toon before the game tomorrow! Normal service will be resumed next week!

I've just spent two minutes on bbc football trying to find Sunderland score. Took me a while to realise I shouldn't be looking on the championship page

Leeds looking really good again today. Don't think they'll keep this up all season but great to watch at the moment.

I heard something about them being in training 9 until 7 every day (obviously with breaks and stuff). That's a risky strategy for an already light squad

Yeah I saw an interview with a player (can't remember which) and he said they were having 3 training sessions a day, although he said much of it was tactical training rather than physical. Even so.

The energy they have shown first two games is outstanding but I can't see them maintaining it for too long. Especially when they come to the Xmas fixture congestion.

I figured a lot of it would be tactical. I don’t know how many hours are typically spent on tactics but my gut feeling is that more could/should be spent on it. Maybe it’ll do Leeds well, and, as you said, if their first two games are anything to go by it would seem so

Liverpool look absolutely incredible, especially as west ham have strengthened themselves well and have a good manager in Pellegrini.
