So, after two games no fewer than six teams have maximum points, four teams have no points at all and one team has yet to score whilst Joselu is The Toons' top scorer.
By my reckoning The Toon will not be in the bottom three when they kick-off against Chelsea on Sunday evening but, lose that game and we could find ourselves on the bottom rung of the ladder.
In the lunchtime kick-off last seasons Championship winners and big spenders Wolverhampton Wanderers take on last seasons Premier League winners and record breakers, Manchester City, whose early form indicates that more records are likely to be broken this season by Peps' men. AFC Bournemouth, another of those teams with maximum points, entertain Everton whilst two of the winless teams clash at The Emirates in what could be described as a pointless London derby! Rock bottom Huddersfield Town are up against Cardiff City who are the only team yet to register a goal and, indeed, have had only two shots on target in their first two games back in the big time so The Terriers will be fancying their chances to pick up their first point of the season from this game. In the last of the 3 o'clock kick-offs Leicester City are the visitors to St Mary's Stadium whilst the teatime game sees title hopefuls Liverpool take on Brighton & Hove Albion who, themselves, had a fine win over Manchester United last weekend.
Sunday sees Watford, currently in a Champions League place, are at home to Crystal Palace whose one game winning run came to an end last weekend and Fulham will be hoping to pick up their first points of the season against a Burnley side who could well be suffering from a Europa League hangover having played in Greece on Thursday night. Our own heroes once again play live in front of a TV audience of millions when Chelsea are the visitors to SJP and hopefully they will put on a much better performance than the dross served up for the cameras last weekend. The final game of the weekend has an under fire Jose Mourinho and his under performing Red Devils taking on Tottenham Hotspur and another defeat for the men in red will be hard to bear for the Old Trafford faithful!
In League One the mackems will be hoping to continue their impressive start to the season when they visit The Cherry Red Records Stadium for their clash with AFC Wimbledon.
As always thanks for reading and enjoy your weekend.

Ayr United take on Dunfermline.
Another win for the on fire Honest Men would keep the push for survival this season right on track.

Yes, come on you Honest Men! Surely they must be striving for more than mere survival as that shows a distinct lack of ambition from the hierarchy!overseasTOON wrote: ↑Thu Aug 23, 2018 3:48 pmAyr United take on Dunfermline.

Apologies for that glaring omission!

Re: WEEKEND FOOTBALL - 24/27 AUGUST 2018
great weekend for me, I get to watch WBA take on Pulis on Friday while at work and don't have to worry about a 4:30am Newcastle game, instead getting a nice Sunday 8am game for me here in Cali.
Life could be worse I guess.

Reckon he'll be gone by Xmas?
I thought Spurs would win tonight. Mourinho hasn't changed his ways and the game is leaving him behind.

Can't be long surely. Obviously been a lot of talk about getting Zidane in, but I don't think that's the right way to go. Lumped a fiver on Conte at 12/1. Dunno what went on at Chelsea, but he achieved a lot in his two years there. Think he's the perfect manager out of those avaliable to right the ship and get them on their way. Not a long term appointment, but very few are these days.

Re: WEEKEND FOOTBALL - 24/27 AUGUST 2018
Football has changed and Man U haven't moved with it. Man C have changed the PL, Liverpool have made moves to go with it, as have Spurs to a lesser extent. Man U haven't. The great thing about Ferguson was that he could adapt a team and squad as years went by, Mourinho (and Man U since Ferguson left) haven't done that. They are miles away from being title contenders.
