Match day thread - Burnley v NUFC
Burnley (a)
Newcastle return to Premier League action this evening when they face the Clarets at Turf Moor in an 8pm kick-off. All away end tickets have been sold.
United start the game 15th in the Premier League after Huddersfield Town's 2-0 win at Wolverhampton on Sunday. Burnley are two places behind, also on nine points.
NUFC: Rafa has confirmed that Paul Dummett won't play following his early return from the Welsh camp with a recurrence of a previous hamstring/calf problem.
Yoshinori Muto has now returned from Japan but is doubtful, while Jamaal Lascelles and Jonjo Shelvey are both available following injury. Karl Darlow picked up a knock on the training ground, Freddie Woodman is on standby to deputise on the bench.
Florian Lejeune and Jamie Sterry remain out, but the Frenchman has now rejoined training with the first team squad following his recovery from a knee op.

Stats:
Monday misery:
Since a 3-0 home win over Wigan Athletic in December 2012, Newcastle have played ten PL Monday night matches in front of the TV cameras - losing every single one of them:
Dec 2012 Fulham (a) lost 1-2
Aug 2013 Manchester City (a) lost 0-4
Sep 2013 Everton (a) lost 2-3
Apr 2014 Arsenal (a) lost 0-3
Sep 2014 Stoke City (a) lost 0-1
Apr 2015 Liverpool (a) lost 0-2
Sep 2015 West Ham (a) lost 0-2
Mar 2016 Leicester City (a) lost 0-1
Oct 2017 Burnley (a) lost 0-1
Apr 2018 Everton (a) lost 0-1
Our last PL away point in a Monday night live TV game came in a 2-2 draw at Everton in September 2012 and one has to return to the halcyon days of October 2011 and Demba Ba's treble in a 3-1 win at Stoke for the last victory.
(NB: Newcastle did win twice on a Monday night during the 2016/17 Championship season, beating both Preston North End and Aston Villa at SJP).
Magpies @ Turf Moor - last 10:
2017/18 lost 0-1
2014/15 drew 1-1 Cisse
2000/01 won 1-0 Cort (FR)
1982/83 lost 0-1
1979/80 lost 2-3 Shoulder, Barton
1978/79 lost 0-1
1975/76 won 1-0 T.Craig(pen)
1974/75 lost 1-4 Barrowclough
1970/71 drew 1-1 Barrowclough
1969/70 won 1-0 Davies
If you aren't going to Turf Moor, The Ware Rooms on Carliol Square have the game on their big screen TVs with matchday food and drink offers as follows:
£2.50 pints for the duration of the game.
Kronenbourg 1664 & Woodpecker Bottles £1.50
Pizza & a pint for £7
Massive Nachos £3
Bacon Baps & Hot Dogs £1.50
Two Dine for £10
The Ware Rooms are at 17 Carliol Square NE1 6UQ - 5 minutes walk from Monument or Manors Metro.
BFC: Johann Gudmundsson and Stephen Defour should return, but Ben Gibson, James Tarkowski, Stephen Ward and Nick Pope remain in the treatment room.
Sean Dyche's side are winless in their last five games, taking maximum points just once in five home games this season: a 4-0 victory over Bournemouth.
Referee: Anthony Taylor (very near Manchester) - a second appearance this season following on from the 2-3 defeat at Old Trafford. Newcastle's most recent victory in a game refereed by Taylor was the 2-1 home success against Arsenal back in April.

Not much of a choice, but i'd go with Clark. Kenedy isn't a defender and Manquillo isn't a football player.

Same here, if Clark is available it has to be him. Although I suspect we're more likely to see ManquilloDonkey Toon wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 5:00 pmNot much of a choice, but i'd go with Clark. Kenedy isn't a defender and Manquillo isn't a football player.

I suspect you are right.
Maybe go 3-5-2 with Kenedy as wing-back?
Re: Match day thread - Burnley v NUFC
I'm going to miss the entire thing. Have to stay late at work. I'm going to watch it on replay when I get back though. It's a Monday which is a bad start. But we have already broken records this year so who knows.

I would like this:
<fernandez> <clark>
<yedlin> <diame> <ki> <kenedy>
<rondon> <ayoze>
Re: Match day thread - Burnley v NUFC
I'd go Manquillo, he's not as offensively bad as some make out, or certainly not enough to stick an out of position centre half on. Kenedy needs to stay as far away from our area as possible...

Not confident, but Burnley aren't in good form so who knows.
I'll go for a dull 1-1 or even duller 0-0.

3-1 win for the lads tonight. I've never seen them lose in the pub I'm watching the match tonight.
That said I'm normally that p!ssed I can't see much anyway.

Can't we just finish at the same time and only play 60 minutes, which I think would be enough for most of us!
