Match day thread - NUFC v West ‘am

Post by Toondes » Fri Nov 30, 2018 8:27 pm

West Ham (h)

Saturday afternoon sees the Hammers visit Tyneside for an old-fashioned 3pm kick-off at Gallowgate.

Following wins over Watford, Bournemouth and Burnley, Rafa's Mags are seeking a fourth successive three point haul - something that they last managed during March / April of this year (Southampton home, Huddersfield home, Leicester away, Arsenal home).

A small number of tickets remain on public sale, with West Ham failing to take the maximum allocation.

The Magpie Group are calling on fans not to take their seats until the 11th minute as a protest against the current owner, with their rationale as follows:

"(This is) in protest at the 11 wasted years of Mike Ashley's tenure as Chairman at the club.

"The Group believe that December represents their last chance to apply significant pressure upon the owner to support Rafa Benitez in the forthcoming January transfer window, amid concerns that the manager will not renew his contract when it expires next summer unless he receives backing."

When asked, Benitez diplomatically said that:

"Our fans have been really good for a while, and especially at Burnley.

"They showed the passion and commitment they have. They will do what they feel is best for the team.

"I am not here to tell them what to do. I respect our fans.

"I have a lot of respect for our fans and hopefully we will enjoy another three points together.”

NUFC: There are no new known injury issues following the win at Burnley, with Paul Dummett still sidelined. Jamaal Lascelles, Jonjo Shelvey Karl Darlow and Yoshinori Muto have all trained this week.

Coral matchday betting is online here

Their "Your Call" option allows you to create bespoke odds and we've cobbled a few examples together:

NUFC win to nil, Matt Ritchie to score 14/1
NUFC win, both teams to score, Salomon Rondon to have 3+ shots on goal 17/1

WHUFC: Winston Reid, Carlos Sanchez, Manuel Lanzini, Andriy Yarmolenko and Ryan Fredericks are all out but Marko Arnautovic has returned to training.

Jack Wilshere and old boy Andy Carroll are expected to be in Manuel Pellegrini's squad.

A 0-4 home loss to Manchester City means that West Ham have won just once in their last six PL outings.

Their sole away success this season was a 3-1 victory at Everton, having lost 0-4 on the other side of Stanley Park and 1-3 at Arsenal.

Since taking three points from Goodison, the Hammers have lost 0-1 at Brighton and drawn 1-1 at both Leicester City and Huddersfied Town.

2015/16 Bournemouth lost 1-3
2016/17 Sheffield Wednesday lost 0-1
2017/18 Bournemouth lost 0-1

I'm struggling to get K+NS ( Vietnam), so for that reason I'm out.
My problem is reconciling my gross behaviour with my net income.

Looking forward to this today. I can see us winning again. West Ham have been poor of late.

It'll be interesting to see what the team is today with Lascelles, Muto and Shelvey back fit. I'd be tempted to leave things how they are. Schar and Fernandez have been great so I wouldn't bring Lascelles back in. Fernandez has been our player of the season for me, then we've still got Lejeune to come back who was quality last year so Lascelles is probably 4th choice now.

Jesus wept, Manquillo? What's he thinking of?

I can only presume that maybe Clark is still coming back to full fitness? Wasn’t he injured recently?

Id rather bring Frank Clark out of retirement than have Manquillo in. He was absolutely shocking against Cardiff and got replaced at half time.
