If they don't go for Steve Clarke then they don't deserve to qualify for anything.
I'll Hazard a guess

Steve Clarke insists his players have "good mental strength".
Shame it's not ability.

England V Bulgaria was the same. It was awful. Kosovo tomorrow will probably be even worse.
These qualifiers are pointless. They've got it right with the nations league thing. They should have just prolonged that and used it as the basis for qualifying.
Re: EURO 2020
Kosovo are 15 games unbeaten...
Also, the qualifiers only seem pointless because we're decent at the moment, I remember points in the 90s where we weren't so good and they felt a hell of a lot more high stakes. The widening of the tournaments isn't going to help things feel important, but there's usually one or two high profile sides that don't make it through.

Re: EURO 2020
I’d say as a general point that the qualifiers are pointless. You could quite easily pick 80/90% of the teams who will qualify before a ball has been kicked. It’s a bit like the CL group stages, pretty much every group is easy to see who is likely to qualify as there’s so much crap in there now.Colly wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2019 4:05 pmKosovo are 15 games unbeaten...

Re: EURO 2020
I understand for fans of good sides it feels pointless or boring (as a Canadian, I can't relate), but what are people suggesting as an alternative? Countries need the opportunity to try and qualify, and the weaker countries would never get better without playing the better ones. I'm sure it wasn't long ago that a team like Iceland would have been considered pointless opposition too.
Re: EURO 2020
They should let the top n ranked nations in then have wild cards. Let those play a tournament or groups to qualify without needing to have the farcical games.

Azerbaijan, ranked 109 by FIFA, just took a point from their game with World Cup finalists, Croatia.
