Match day thread - NUFC v Fulham

Post by Toondes » Fri Dec 21, 2018 7:12 pm

Fulham (h)

United's final home game of 2018 sees basement side Fulham visit SJP for an old-fashioned 3pm kickoff this Saturday. Tickets remain on public sale.

The final Foodbank collection of 2018 will take place on Strawberry Place in the usual spot from 1pm.

NUFC: DeAndre Yedlin is available following suspension and Federico Fernandez is fit again. Jonjo Shelvey, Karl Darlow and Ciaran Clark are all out and Florian Lejeune remains short of match fitness.

Coral matchday betting is online here

Selected odds:
Their "Your Call" option allows you to create bespoke odds and we've cobbled some examples together - you'll find these online under NUFC.com specials.

Rondon to score, Mitro to score, game drawn 18/1
Rondon to score, Mitro to score, NUFC win 11/1
NUFC win to nil, Perez first goalscorer 11/1
NUFC win 2-1, Rondon to score 12/1
NUFC win, Mitrovic to score 13/2

FFC: Contrary to earlier reports, Ryan Sessengnon will once again be sidelined through injury, while Frank Anguissa also misses the trip to Tyneside.

Ex-Magpie Aleksandar Mitrovic is set for a first game against his former employers, having got through the West Ham game on Saturday without collecting the booking that would have seen him suspended.

On the road this season, Fulham have taken just one point from a possible 27, thanks to their 2-2 draw at Brighton.

Defeats came at Spurs (1-3), Manchester City (0-3), Everton (0-3), Cardiff City (2-4), Huddersfield Town (0-1), Liverpool (0-2), Chelsea (0-2) and Manchester United (1-4).

This will be the sixth time that boss Claudio Ranieri has occupied the away dugout at SJP, Fulham becoming the fourth different club he's overseen on Tyneside:

2015/16 Newcastle 0 Leicester City 3 (PL)
2007/08 Newcastle 2 Juventus 0 (Fr)
2003/04 Newcastle 2 Chelsea 1 (PL)
2002/03 Newcastle 2 Chelsea 1 (PL)
2001/02 Newcastle 1 Chelsea 2 (PL)

The Ware Rooms on Carliol Square will have these offers on Saturday:

We probably all expect to win this one, usually bodes well...

I actually do think we’ll win, 2-0.

Fulham have been very poor, conceding goals for fun.

So a 0-2 win for Fulham then. <erk>

I want at least a draw and Mitro not to score so Hjl gets a perfect 0% on his pre-Christmas predictions.

Looking forward to going to this one. I think we'll win. Fulham leak goals and we'll be set up to be solid defensively so I can't see them scoring more than they concede. 2-1 win I reckon!

I’m going to the game and bricking it... huge one today. Lots of people confident that we’ll win - I don’t love the crowd when we’re like that, we get less patient and more anxious if we don’t score early. This is going to be a tough game, even if we should have the quality we need. But Fulham are fighting for their lives and are very dangerous going forward - not just Mitro, Schurrle and Cairney too. Saw them beat Southampton 3-2 at Craven Cottage a couple of weeks ago. Defensively suspect for sure, but definitely a serious threat going forward.

Massive game this as said before, the rest of our fixtures through to Feb are horrid, only respite is Cardiff mid January and a win for us would give us breathing room over the next month and see us in a good position to kick on in Feb, at this moment im just writing off January completely <urgh>.

Odd Manquillo is starting, but guessing this is a 3-4-3 with him and Ritchie at WB and Dummett at LCB. Would make sense given their attacking strength - wouldn’t want 2 CBs exposed against their attack to often.

i thought the same, that line up could go either way really, 4-4-1-1 or 3-4-3

I know, he was hounded out by a **** decision by Rafa. He wanted to play for us and we f***ed it up. 100% not his fault. If anything I'd cheer him quietly if he scored today.
