Match day thread - NUFC v Manure
Manchester United (h)
The Magpies usher in 2019 with the visit of a revitalised Manchester United side to Gallowgate on Wednesday January 2nd. It's an 8pm kick-off live on Sky Sports.
Following a 1-0 win at SJP in February, Newcastle are aiming to register successive home victories over the Red Devils for the first time in the Premier League.
That feat was last achieved during the 1986/87 (2-1 Roeder, Goddard) and 1987/88 (1-0 Roeder) seasons.
The last remaining tickets are still on public sale.
NUFC: Ki Sungyeung is with South Korea at the Asian Cup and unavailable, while there are injury doubts over Ciaran Clark, Karl Darlow and Federico Fernandez.
MUFC: Chris Smalling, Scott McTominay and Marcos Rojo are all out, while Marcus Rashford is doubtful.
Eric Bailly was red-carded during Sunday's home victory over Bournemouth and serves a one match ban.
Interim boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has a 100% record after three PL games - although his side failed to keep a clean sheet in any of them. A fourth successive win would see him match the achievement of Matt Busby in 1946.
Solksjaer is visiting Gallowgate as a manager for the third time, having enjoyed mixed fortunes on the previous two occasions.
The Norwegian celebrated a 2-1 FA Cup victory in his first game as Cardiff City boss in January 2014, but his Bluebirds side were officially relegated from the Premier League following a 0-3 loss at SJP four months later.
The Ware Rooms on Carliol Square will have the game live on their big screen TVs and these offers in place:
Pizza and a pint £7
Two Dine for a Tenner
20% discount for NUFC season ticket holders before and after the Manchester United game.
The Ware Rooms are at 17 Carliol Square NE1 6UQ - 5 minutes walk from both Monument and Manors Metro.

Ask a silly question, but is the club shop open before kickoff on night games? Been a while since I've walked round that way.

Not sure but it’s a money making opportunity so I’d be amazed if it wasn’t open.

Looking at those injuries and suspensions at the back, who are Man U likely to start at centre back? After Jones I can't think of anyone else that can play there.

Re: Match day thread - NUFC v Manure
It'll be Jones and Lindelof.
Jones having to play is good news though. Hopefully he'll chip in with a goal for us again.

I think we’ll beat them 5-1, allowing them a consolation goal in injury time.

We're f***ed.
Re: Match day thread - NUFC v Manure
I was offered the chance at a free ticket tonight but I turned it down. The opportunity to freeze my bollocks off while we have 16% possession and see Pogba treat it as a training ground exercise just wasn't that attractive of a proposition, funnily enough. It's going to be painful.
