He'd gone down twice though so clearly wasn't in the best shape to be facing penalties (and Caballero on the bench has a relatively good reputation for saving them). It's a team sport and ultimately you might not like the decisions but you save your misunderstandings or arguments for in the changing room IMO. From the moment all that happened it was clear that only one team were winning the shootout as Kepa / Chelsea effectively heaped every ounce of pressure onto themselves.

It's a bit of a shame for Chelsea as up until then they'd handled themselves and City pretty well from a defensive point of view and appeared to be playing for each other. Then that happened and it just showed all the fractures and weaknesses in the squad. As has been said in the media, a strong captain would have sorted it out but Azpi didn't do anything.
Definitely. I think everyone handled it terribly. Kepa shouldn't have waved it all away, Sarri shouldn't have just sat in his seat shouting and gesticulating, Cesar should have shown some leadership. It all could have been avoided had the manager, keeper and trainer maybe actually talked to one another.

Again, I get that Kepa should have just done as told, but I do think a keeper injury sub is a little different than the usual substitution situation, and for as much as the team seem to be quitting on Sarri, he's obviously not doing enough to build trust and loyalty either.
The physio had told them he wasn't injured. They wanted him off as Caballero is a specialist at penalties and knows the City players well. Kepa was a disgrace and so was Azpi.

Also, after Kepa saved a penalty he spent a minute celebrating on the wrong side of the goal so it delayed Luiz taking his penalty(which he then missed). Luiz was actually standing on the spot telling Kepa to go over to where he needed to stand.

Has it come out whether it was always the plan for Caballero to come in for penalties? Obviously it worked for Nether regions a few years ago, but I feel like if you're going to use the controversial approach of yanking your outrageously expensive keeper after keeping a clean sheet for 120 minutes, you'd better know how to communicate that strategy to your players (and maybe he did - in which case I have no remaining empathy for Kepa).

Bournemouth losing, they can definitely be caught!

Blimey, never ever thought it would be deemed a success to finish above Bournemouth!

Fulham f***ed up their recruitment badly, their defence is awful.

Yes, started the weekend a single point above the drop zone and after the midweek games ate now 6 points clear. Happy days!

Realistically 2 more wins and we'll be safe. Cardiff aren't getting to 40 points.

Can't see them getting to 34 so yeah two wins would be enough imo

Rainieri's been sacked. Scott Parker in caretaker charge. Early betting has him as a likely option to remain in charge for the rest of the season. Seeing 7/2 for Moyes and 8/1 for Big Sam. Don't expect he will take the risk.

Two managers who've managed to get bugger all out of £100 million quids worth of 'talent' .. think it's too late for them.

Ranieri really isn’t a good manager now, the Leicester thing was very much a freak (amazing) occurrence. I’ve no idea why Fulham ever appointed him, other than desperation. He was awful as Greece manager.

If they have any sense they'll give it to Parker or another young manager and go for promotion next year as a project, throwing money at the British Managers Lunch Club in faint hope of survival is just costly and stupid. Certainly worked for them when they did it with Chris Coleman.

I'd be a little wary of reading too much into national team management, especially of a team that is always short on talent and made their name off the back of a fluky and ugly tournament win.

I agree, but they had some truly awful results and performances. Fulham showed zero improvement under him, he constantly looked defeated on the touch line. Time to call it a day I think.
