NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2019)
Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2019)
I think Krafth will be the last of our incoming business. Bruce has said
Speaking on transfers Steve Bruce said: "We are still hopeful that we have one or two things up our sleeve. I hope we are not finished (in the transfer market). We will know a little bit more in the next 24 hours. I would envisage we still have one or two bits still to do."
I reckon the rest will be the likes of Murphy & Colback going out on loan, probs Aarons as well.

Looks like a right footed left winger.

According to Sky we are still looking at signing more players today, they tried to entice us by saying we could break the transfer record again but Keith Downie was saying it was unlikely, but does sound like we could see at least one more after Krafth

I'm much more open to this now we have actually got forward options, the risk is low, he's a local lad who hopefully still has that fire he had when he was with us. If he can keep himself fit and injury free would be a great option as a free transfer.

I think it's a no brainer.
Knows the club, gives us that extra option up front.
Great player to have up front if we need to go direct

Will he fit the aimed style of play?
Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2019)
Definitely worth a punt. 1 or 2 year deal, low basic wage with high appearance fee, prove his fitness.

A bit of flexibility can't hurt. It's not as if he's just a head on a stick, he was always decent at bringing players into the game after a long ball, but more importantly as a 10-20 impact sub when you've got Lejeune, Schar, Longstaff and Shelvey able to put crosses in? That's useful against teams we can't break down.

Fingers crossed his body lasts long enough to get more game time than Islam Slimani and Seydou Doumbia combined.

Doesn't really need too, he will just be there for specific situations, as others have said back end of the game for set pieces and long balls / crosses into the box, basically be would be just a plan C in attack.
Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2019)
Heart says yes, brain says no. Purely because of injuries etc maybe pay as you play deal? He will give different option & a plan B if we have to play hoofball on a wet Wednesday against Stoke in Carabao.

This. Plan B to come of the bench / back-up to Joelinton also. Worth the gamble for sure. On his day can be unplayable. Even if we get 20+ games out of him, if he makes a impact and contributes assists/chances/goals then it'll all be worth it. We would have a nice mixture and different playing styles upfront
Joelinton - Physical, big, athletic, skillful, mobile - not your typical target-man but a good all-rounder (CF/ST)
Muto - Quick, agile, intelligent, high work rate - Can play out wide and upfront - striker/wide-forward
Gayle - Pace / run in behind / good off the ball movement - Poacher / striker
Carroll - Strong, physical, big aerial threat - Target-man / central forward
It all depends on how we are going to set up weather it be 343 with Miggy and Maximin supporting Joe or 352 with Miggy and Joe upfront we will have some depth in the striker department. If we do get Carroll and maybe the winger from Boreduex that means Gayle must be leaving?
Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2019)
So 25 man squad:
GK (3): Dubravka, Darlow (HG), Elliot (HG)
CB (6): Lascelles (HG), Lejeune, Fernandez, Schär, Clark (HG), Dummett (HG)
WB (4): Krafth, Yedlin, Manquillo, Willems
CM (4): Hayden (HG), Shelvey (HG), Ki, Saivet OR Colback (HG) (S. and M. Longstaff do not need to be registered)
W/AM (4): Atsu, Saint Maximin, Almiron, Ritchie (HG)
ST (4): Joelinton, Muto, Gayle (HG), Carroll (HG)
= 25 men, inc. 9 homegrown (10 if Colback's included).
There's places to improve - Colback/Saivet and Ki out for 2 decent defensive midfielders for a start. Aarons, Colback/Saivet, Lazaar, and Sterry all out in the cold. But that feels like quite a balanced squad for the most part.

I guess I'm in the minority and don't want Carroll, I don't buy this it's a no brainer talk he's been finished for years a waste of a squad place imo.
Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2019)
Did I read somewhere that Ki now had a British passport to avoid work permit issues? He's been in the UK for 10 years now.
Edit: That might have been on my Newcastle save on FM

Ki won't have work permit issues but I don't think he qualifies as home grown, can't remember the criteria though. Not that it matters, I think we've got enough anyway.

He also has Kyle Scott in the squad
Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2019)
Might need him to meet our quota of home trained players rules for Champions League next season
or if Boris bans all foreign players after Brexit.
