With all these injuries, not sure if the same player is there. He's 29 in November, so under the assumption Ashley is still in charge, likely a no go. I imagine him costing at least 10m with little sell on value. McCarthy +12m for Hayden may not be unreasonable. I know that's not really the destination Hayden wants, though.
Obviously I've Green tinted glasses on in regards to what I think of him as a player, but for me he'd be one the first on the team sheet in the number 6 role in a fully fit Ireland squad.

He's definitely a solid premier league number 6 in his pomp. I'd just be concerned that injuries, plus the obvious lack of playing time from that, would take it's toll. But then again, if he was back up to full speed, we'd probably be nowhere near signing him. Be a gamble.lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 9:26 amTrue of course, he hasn't obviously played much since the leg break, but before that he did seem to be getting back to his good form.CIH wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 9:04 amThink he would've been a great signing when we first got promoted. Also talk of Odysseas Vlachodimos from Benfica.
German born Greek International goalkeeper, He'd be backup to Dubravka of course but a decent young keeper

Isn't the supposed asking price around 12-15m?lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 10:03 amAlso talk of Odysseas Vlachodimos from Benfica.

Point being, it's a lot to spend on a second choice goalkeeper. For us it's a lot to spend on a first choice keeper. I can see why we are being linked to keepers, I think Woodman, Darlow and Elliot are all going into the final year. Darlow would probably want first team football, but if not he'd be a capeable backup option. Elliot may be happy hang around, but his injuries and age make him unreliable. Woodman is obviously the future, he needs a new contract and sending out on loan so he can get first team football. We definitely need at least one keeper brought in.

True it is a lot for us, but I think we got Dubravka for a very low fee.CIH wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 10:26 amPoint being, it's a lot to spend on a second choice goalkeeper. As you say we are looking at keepers due to the reasons you point to, Darlow probably wants first team, Woodman needs to go out on loan to improve.

There are enough football players on earth who haven't battled injury problems like this for the past 3 years, so I don't know why you'd want to be the club taking the risk on him. There are other teams who need to take those risks to get players with upside, but we really shouldn't have to.CIH wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 9:49 amHe's definitely a solid premier league number 6 in his pomp. On a pay as you play I'd snap him up, would cost us about £0 across the season.

I know you're joking but it's amazing people think that agents will let their players go to places on 'pay as you play deals'. Makes no sense for anyone other than the club.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 2:17 pmOn a pay as you play I'd snap him up, would cost us about £0 across the season.

Yep. I wonder who the last 'pay-as-you-play' player was in the top flight? If there has even been one?Blue & Maroon wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 2:27 pmI know you're joking but it's amazing people think that agents will let their players go to places on 'pay as you play deals'. Yeah I'm advocating against signing him, would've been a good buy a few years ago, but too much a risk now.
