He was such a CDM force - at least for the first few seasons. I've never seen a Newcastle CM disrupt opposition play more than him. We've really never had a proper CDM since (which maybe given the tactics played, isn't completely without reason).CIH wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 6:56 pmReminds me of TioteThe Deluded Pablo Diego Jose Francisco wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 1:36 pmXhaka would be a poor signing.

Xhaka isnt a CDM, being played there is half the reason the arsenal fans hate him. he'd be vying with Longstaff and Shelvey for the other spot, who IMO he'd be better than, so he would be a good loan signing.

Linked with Gabriel Barbosa from Inter currently on loan at Flamengo.
Scored 2 goals in the libertadores final at the weekend.
Plan was to bring him on loan once his contract is finished with Flamengo (end of the year)
Be interesting to see what happens now after his copa exploits

Lazy journalism is probably linking him to half the clubs in Europe after scoring those goals at the weekend. Doubt his name was ever mentioned anywhere before that!
Wouldn't their be work permit issues too as he's only played a few games for Brazil? Unless he's got dual nationality.

I'd like us to be looking at Ivan Toney. Apparently there's a chunky 'sell on' fee in the deal so that would be a cost we wouldn't have to pay making him 'cheaper' in a sense. He's quick, strong, young and English and given Dwight Gayle doesn't get a look in we could ship him out for good money to the Championship and bring this lad back in. Yes he's only in League 1 right now but 12 in 17 this season to go with a fine record last season, linked to Championship and PL clubs already.
I'm not saying he's ready to start like....but if he'd started all season I'd bet he'd have more than 1 goal......

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2019)
I'm not against bringing him in, but shipping out Dwight Gayle who scored 20+ in the Championship for someone scoring in League 1 feels very wrong.

Don't disagree with your point, but has Gayle even touched the ball in his two brief appearances? It has highlighted that no matter who plays the 9, right now we're not good at getting them the ball in dangerous positions (even Andy is only receiving the ball at his head).

Barely. And he's fat now so looks way short of match fitness.Remember Colo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:43 pmDon't disagree with your point, but has Gayle even touched the ball in his two brief appearances? I don't discount his performance in the Championship, and plenty of players can transition performance there to the PL, but I just don't see it happening for Gayle now.ALF wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 4:40 pmBarely. I'd like us to take a punt on Jarrod Bowen from Hull. Was excellent last season and tops the charts so far this season with 14 goals/4 assists.
I fully expect PL clubs to show interest in January and it would be good if we were one of them.

It's good they're midtable too, as I'd expect them to be even less likely to sell if they were in good shape for getting promoted.Donkey Toon wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 7:55 pmI'd like us to take a punt on Jarrod Bowen from Hull. Yep and I think it is a good sign that his stats have been achieved in a team that is mid-table even with his impressive input. Indicating that he is doing it in a team that would be really struggling without him, rather than him getting good stats as a benefit of playing in one of the better teams in the league.Remember Colo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 8:00 pmIt's good they're midtable too, as I'd expect them to be even less likely to sell if they were in good shape for getting promoted.Donkey Toon wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 7:55 pmI'd like us to take a punt on Jarrod Bowen from Hull.
