If he wasn’t good at football he’d have been a career criminal probably.

Admittedly I haven't watched any of AFCON, but losing to Cape Verde and conceding twice in stoppage time to draw with Mozambique is worthy of criticism.

Found him getting increasingly irritating over the last couple of seasons with his outbursts and tedious rambling about the unfairness of everything

Good riddance, one of football's worst losers, constantly trying to play the underdog with one of the highest wage bills in the world unbearable man.

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread
I think that he has undoubtedly been good for the league and the only manager who broke the Man C stranglehold for one season, but I agree that in the last 2-3 years he has been incredibly annoying and one of the worst losers / biggest moaners in the league. I can see Salah leaving in summer too, at this stage in his career will he want to be part of a Liverpool revamp under a new manager? He's done everything he could at Liverpool.
In Klopp's defence, at least he was likeable as a manager once, unlike someone like Arteta...
...You'd think by the media coverage that Klopp had died.

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread
Klopp undoubtedly has done a great job at Liverpool and revamped them into a team that you fear playing.
Yeah, he's been moaning like a bastard for a while about under investment in the squad but to be fair, he's simply vocalising some frustration knowing the fans will be right behind him and perhaps push the board to go that bit extra.
Irrespective of his media quips; he's built two very strong teams under his tenure which isn't easy to do and has always tried to bring through academy players when possible.
Unlike Man Utd replacing Fergie, I think there will be a queue of top managers ready to take on this role because Klopp will have walked away from a strong squad that needs one or two tweaks due to players like Salah likely to leave.
No one wanted the Man Utd job after Fergie because of his winning record. They were more happy to just be better then the person who took over after Fergie.
Is that it for Klopp though and he's retiring or just needs some time away, recharge batteries and go again?
Pep had a year out waiting for the right opportunity and to relax and re-learn some fundamentals of the game.
Howe did the same thing after Bournemouth where he took time out, rethought his approach and waited.

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread
I'd be amazed if he didn't manage Germany sooner rather than later. Tbf, managing a PL club for 9 years must be draining as it's literally a 7 day a week job. Even if he went straight to the Germany job after the Euros it would be far more relaxed in comparison to club management.
The moaning definitely gets the fans onside and creates an 'us against everyone' vibe which has worked for them, even though his arguments are bollocks. They consistently pay big transfer fees and probably not far off City for their wage bill.

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread
I suppose the difference is he's in his 50s, so bar a Hodgson-esque career you'd assume next time he stops he stops. Germany makes perfect sense given the jobs available after the Euros.overseasTOON wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 12:39 pm

Xavi has announced he will leave Barcelona at the end of the season. Barcelona were beaten 5-3 by Villareal today - with two goals in added time - and is, apparently, the first time since 1963 that they have conceded 5 goals in a game.
