As I said earlier, nobody has a clue, this latest tweet by Downie is further proof of that. After the Kenyon fiasco Ashley explicitly said he would be asking for proof of funds first. Which either means this is still in it's very early stages, or everybody has just jumped the gun (shock) as usual whenever one of these f***ing takeover stories rears it's head.

Sky Sports, in 24 hours, have reported a deal is almost done. They've also reported it isn't. They have two separate journalists - Downie and Graves - both tweeting out conflicting messages. The Daily Mail have published a story where it's headline contradicts the article. They all haven't even got a handle on who this bloke is (see, is he a half cousin or half brother or is he related at all?). They are just throwing s*** and hoping it'll stick. It's the 24 hour social media news cycle in all of it's horrible glory. They're just tweeting out every source as if it's gospel so they can be the ones to 'break' the story.

I'm not going to believe anything until the club release a statement saying the deal is done. Some fans have embarrassed themselves today on Twitter, as have the journalists, as usual.

Why is everyone making a big deal of this? Everyone talking about due diligence as if they have experience with multimillion pound purchases of football clubs by royal families. Just like any news story on earth, different journalists are reporting it differently, with most not having access to anyone close enough to the facts to report them completely accurately.

If true and "proof of funds" hasn't been provided yet, doesn't mean the buyers can't provide it, or even necessarily have been asked for it, and yet it could still be true they've agreed on a price.

The sky isn't falling every time there's a conflicting report.
