It's all very strange given all the recent academy changes. Either one hand doesn't know what the others doing, or the academy stuff was never for Rafa in the first place.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 12:25 pmIt's not only Rafa, but key members of his coaching staff too.

Give it a few days and the Bin Zayed Group will be time wasting tyre kickers and Ashley's binned the take over.

Re: Rafa leaving official confirmation
yes it's a strange one both Redfearn and Atkinson have a very good history at producing good youngsters from their previous academies (Leeds, Sunderland) but it's hard to work out if it's more a Ashley model or Rafa one.Colly wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 12:40 pmIt's all very strange given all the recent academy changes. Re: Rafa leaving official confirmation
Hopefully Rafa releases a lengthy statement to put his side of events across. As he was out of contract I presume there won't be any gagging orders etc. in place.

Re: Rafa leaving official confirmation
Not really unexpected news. Had a bad feeling this would be the outcome. It could be that the takeover group have their own ideas for a manager. Also , we don’t know if Rafa was being unrealistic in what he was asking for as he knew Ashley would come out as the villain.

No "wishing all the best in the future" part at the official statement. Shocked?

No manager, limited coaching staff, no striker, limited central midfield options, lack of fullbacks, only about 7 weeks until the transfer window closes and the season starts, ideal.

Re: Rafa Benitez reveals 'positive' talks over his Newcastle United future
I said the same thing at the beginning of this saga. I'm done with this club now whilst he remains owner, which I expect him to do for the foreseeable future. There was a time I'd have uprooted my life to attend games, now I just don't care.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 11:46 amThat's it, I'm not spending a single penny more on the club until Ashley goes. I don't go to many games (4 or 5 a year) but I'm not even doing that now.

Re: Rafa Benitez reveals 'positive' talks over his Newcastle United future
Yeah, even up until this I've carried on going to games when I can as I liked what Rafa was doing and how he'd brought the players and fans together, but not any more. So no membership, no away tickets, no shirts (don't tend to buy them anyway) from now on - plus savings on train tickets etc. should save me some money to put towards something worthwhile.PTAO? wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 1:31 pmI said the same thing at the beginning of this saga.
