Fail to sign a top manager who wants to stay at the club due to pennypinching
Fail to sign a top striker that wants to stay at the club due to pennypinching
Lose the club's top scorer (probably) as a result as the above
Have two months to get a replacement manager in, pay 5 mil compensation to land an ex-sunderland championship plodder

Imagine being that bad at your job. We had a good platform to build on and they've f***ed it up spectacularly.

It's beyond ridiculous. Unless a takeover somehow happens there is no way we don't get relegated from here.

This pretty much conforms there is no takeover in the near future as well. You're not going to pay compensation to another club for a s**** manager if you're about to sell the club. You'd leave that sort of decision to the new owners and let Redfearn take caretaker charge or at the very most appoint an out of work manager on a short term deal.

Still in two minds as to whether to renew my membership and go to the Arsenal game but if Bruce is appointed then that's me finished. <neg>
Decision made!

Save £40 odd on ticket, £36 on membership, £100 on hotel, £60 on petrol, £100 on meals & drinks plus what the missus spends in the shops. Can have a nice holiday on that!

Hmm, let me revise your calc, the ££ variable from Mrs Ulvers toon will not change. Indeed you might find £££ it increases in proportion to your sacrifice, there'll be an insistence on Toon shopping in which case you'll be in Newcastle, just no football
For the record in a moment of weakness last week ( clouded with takeover optimism ) I renewed so I'm already £36 down.
This mornings rumours just make me feel more cheated out of cash
Oh man.................. <erk>

Maybe not <laugh>

Adam Oxley (BBC Sheffield) tweeted this

Informed that Steve Bruce is at #swfc training ground this morning as he continues to be linked with the vacant #nufc manager’s role. I’ve just checked and there still hasn’t been a formal approach from Newcastle

If Bruce takes this gig, I'd be fascinated to listen to his justification ?
Seriously, he's not an idiot, he must have a sense of what's going on here.
Hopefully none of this clichéd, I'm a Geordie, its my boy hood dream team, its something I just couldn't turn down, always been my ambition.......................
Whats it gonna be ...........................?

We laughed when Palace paid £4mil for Pardew and now we're having to pay £5mil for Bruce <puke> <disgrace>

At least Pardew had one good season getting us into Europe, something Bruce has never done as manager.

Those things are true though and it's understandable why he'd take it.

It's his dream job at the club he supports.
He's local so it's an opportunity for him to come home.
It's an opportunity for him to manage in the Premier League again.
It's the first chance in his career for him to manage a big club.
No doubt the salary at a Premier League club will also be greater than at a Championship club.

Sure he'll know what is going on and to say it will be a difficult job is an understatement. However to be a football manager you have to have very high levels of self confidence and he'll be no diffrent. He'll believe he can keep us up (he won't but not many would) despite all that is going on.

From his point of view it would make sense to take the job.
