Joelinton, 1 other and Gayle isn't a bad choice, we will see what happens with Muto as well.

Re: Joelinton to sign tomorrow?
If it's true Bruce has a £ 90m kitty, and bearing in mind we need at least 4 or 5 players, is almost half of it too much to lump on one player - especially as it's probably a Gini Widjnaldum 'stepping stone' kind of signing on the players/agents and Ashleys part - he'll have to be some player to make a decent profit on that outlay.
Or is £ 30 / £ 40m the going price for a half decent player / prospect, and we just have to accept we can only get 2 or 3 players in max ?

This might be overly pessimistic, but I can see this being a similar window to when we signed Anita - good start, then nothing.Asprillasfurcoat wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 7:06 amIf it's true Bruce has a £ 90m kitty, and bearing in mind we need at least 4 or 5 players, is almost half of it too much to lump on one player - especially as it's probably a Gini Widjnaldum 'stepping stone' kind of signing on the players/agents and Ashleys part - he'll have to be some player to make a decent profit on that outlay.

Re: Joelinton to sign tomorrow?
If the Rafa-leaving-to-Bruce-being-officially-appointed timeline is followed, then Joelinton will officially be unveiled as a Newcastle player on the day the transfer window closes

This is an interesting transfer, seems like a lot of money for him but a lot of potential. So exciting.

Re: Joelinton to sign tomorrow?
I mean for the reported 8mil you would be getting a experienced Premier League standard striker that IF FIT will get you goals. We paid how much for Joselu again? like 6mil was it? Austin is miles ahead of Joselu and even if he isn't a starter would give us a option of the bench. It's a gamble with his recent injury and fitness record but for 8mil we could do a lot worse.

30 years old, sicknote, scoring record has dropped off at Southampton. I'd have had him 3 years ago, not now.
People will be wanting Carroll back as well next.

Re: Joelinton to sign tomorrow?
On a low salary and as a back-up, I'd actually be fine with Carroll. He's actually been really effective for West Ham...when healthy. Wouldn't want to rely on him for anything, or ever count on him to be fit, but when fit, still impactful.

Re: Joelinton to sign tomorrow?
So now looking at his stats, he really has been MIA the past two seasons, with hardly any appearances, and few to no goals when he was fit. I take back what I said - clearly the past couple years passed me by. 2016-17 was the last season he was relatively efficient (7 goals in 1,500 minutes is pretty good, compared to the forwards we were using lately).Beatski wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2019 7:23 pmWest Ham fans say he's been done for the last 3 yearsRemember Colo wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2019 1:05 amOn a low salary and as a back-up, I'd actually be fine with Carroll.
