League Cup: Leicester (h)
After Sunday I'd forgotten about our game v Leicester tomorrow night (with most focus being on Watford at the weekend).
I think that Brendan will want to field a strong team as he'll be keen for a Cup (or at least a good run) so I don't think we can field too many youth players as we might have in previous seasons (presuming we want to have a go...). With Lascelles, ASM and Joelinton carrying knocks I suspect they'll be left out with Fernandez, Muto and Atsu coming in. Quality is lacking in some aspects of the squad, but if we bring the likes of those three in, Manquillo probably at RWB and Willems at LWB we have some good cover.
Edit:
Just seen this on NUFC.com...
We believe that the likes of Aarons, Colback, Lazaar, Saivet and Sterry can play, as NUFC continue to hold their registration:
From the Carabao Cup rules:
6.2 A registered player is:
6.2.2 in the case of a Premier League Club, one who would be registered and eligible to participate in a Premier League match commencing at the same time and on the same date as the Competition match in accordance with the Premier League Rules, or would have been but for the operation of Premier League Rule U.1.1 (Squad List).

I know it's being talked about a lot, but I can't imagine why you'd play players you're hoping to shift soon, because they'll be rusty, potentially unmotivated, and if they do win, they won't even be around for the next round. Plus, get injured now and you definitely won't be able to loan/sell them.

Oh yeah I’d rather we used our PL squad players rather than someone like Colback.

Think they’ve been training with them since the start of the season (seen pictures previously).

Ah thanks for clearing that up wasn't sure as Rafa didn't have them train with the first team squad if they weren't in it they'd train with the U23's.

I just thought that it was the same under Bruce and the fact they were training was a good indicator they would play a part.

I think he'll go with something like this:
Dubravka
Fernandez Clark Dummett
Manquillo Shelvey Ki MLongstaff Willems
Atsu Mutu

Would be fairly happy with that. Gives us a chance to rest a few of the lads for Saturday which is another important game, whilst still fielding a "decent" team. Hoping Leicester throw their young lads

We're not in it for the long run anyway
It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city.
Re: League Cup: Leicester (h)
Atsu won’t be able to play twice in 4 days after the injury layoff he’s had, so I’d expect either a kid or someone unusual (Ritchie or one of the Longstaffs maybe) to play up alongside Muto.
I had the first custom w***

Mutu? That's a blast from the past.
But yeah if Muto doesn't start then they are never gonna have any confidence in playing him. Has he ever got a fair shake.
I'd honestly forgot we still have Clarke.

Now that the bigger clubs take the League Cup more seriously it’s realistically removed that tiny slither of hope that it’s a winnable trophy (if there ever was a slither)

Well I guess we're back in the dark ages when before the cup games we have suddenly half of the team injured. Thank f*** now we have a cup specialist at helm.
