Reports saying we're in talks with Dortmund for Paco Alcacer.

He should be allowed to score from offside, it’d be like golf where you get a handicap to even things out....

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Winter 2020)
You cant exactly blame him for that, first one was all on ASM, he made a perfect run but didnt get the ball when he should have, the second was deflected into his path when we weren't on the ball. But he was in the right positions doing the right things.
Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Winter 2020)
He does have ASM to blame for not getting a goal. He made a very good run and the pass was on but ASM needlessly took and extra touch and delayed playing him in. By which point he was offside.
Other than that though he didn't do a great deal once again and division 3 centre half managed to contain him pretty easily.
That said it's harsh to single out Joelinton. Sean Longstaff was by far and away the worst player on the pitch. Yedlin and ASM also had as bad if not worse games than Joelinton.

If we were to be bitten twice and believe lassassinblanc... again
Scouting Volland could maybe point at us actually targeting known established players with that extra quality, so fingers crossed there is something in this Alcacer link.

Joelinton is actually worse than Joselu. Not even trying to be funny. He really, really is.

People just like latching onto a scapegoat, if he scored a hat trick yesterday people would have written it off as " Its just oxford" the lad cant win at the moment because a slow start as always has had him judged and hated before hes even completed a full season. The lad had the ball in the net twice and was offside through no fault of his own, yet hes getting slaughtered for it, says it all really.
Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Winter 2020)
Massively unpopular opinion no doubt, but I actually thought he was one of our better players yesterday (and I realise that's very faint praise). He shanked that second half shot, but other than that I thought he looked one of the few players on our side you'd think was a Premier League player. He very rarely lost the ball, was involved with most of our good play (sadly having to come far too deep to do so) with some lovely turns and flicks to send the other two through, and made so many decent runs that just weren't picked up on by our utterly clueless midfield. The first offside goal epitomises that, horrible by ASM, but it happened all game. You can't blame a striker when the rest of the team is 30 yards away from him at all times.
ASM has since confessed it's his worst Newcastle game so far but there's been a few games where he's dallied on the ball too long when we've got players in the box, and it happened far too many times yesterday.

Yeah but he didn’t score a hat trick and has looked poor in practically every game this season. Nothing to do with looking for a scapegoat , he’s just f***ing gash. Not his fault we paid £40 for him mind.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 11:34 amPeople just like latching onto a scapegoat, if he scored a hat trick yesterday people would have written it off as " Its just oxford" the lad cant win at the moment because a slow start as always has had him judged and hated before hes even completed a full season. To be fair to Joelinton, he hasn't been getting the service he requires we could have Pele in his prime and he'd struggle to score goals.
MOTD on Saturday summed it up perfectly so many times that Saint Max could have passed the ball but decided to run down a blind ally.
Yes Joelinton needs to improve and score more and as Toondes mentions above not his fault we paid 40m for him.
Now onto transfer news...
The Paco Alcacer story demands on about 3 things, whether Dortmund are willing to let him go
* if they do they will be short on out and out strikers though the likes of Reus and Gotze can cover there.
* What Barcelona do, they are interested in bringing in another striker to replace the injured Suarez- Rodrigo of Valencia tops that list
* If Valencia sell then Paco is their no.1 target to replace him- they may even offer Ferran Torres to Dortmund as part of any deal which would be very enticing for them as he was a player they had tried to get in last January to replace Pulisic but failed so they then negotiated Pulisic to stay at Dortmund until the summer. They obviously went and brought in Brandt and our favorite Hazard they still retained an interest in Torres with Jadon Sancho more then likely to move come the summer a move for Torres now to help him bed in similar to Haaland may be in the offing.

And with Valencia these days, you really can't be sure what they're going to do. So much instability with their front office and player/coaching decisions. I'm pretty shocked they've managed to turn this season around after stupidly changing managers.lassassinblanc wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 12:29 pmTo be fair to Joelinton, he hasn't been getting the service he requires we could have Pele in his prime and he'd struggle to score goals.

You sometimes wonder if sports writers sit around in an office drawing random names out of hats and then pissing themselves as they make up a story around it. Beats working for a living i suppose.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 2:35 pmCaptain Obvious wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 2:34 pmFree agent Emmanuel Adebayor the latest name to be linked. To be fair I worked in an office where each week you had to draw a random song title from a hat and then drop it into conversation without anybody who wasn't in on the game noticing. I was declared the winner one week when I managed to drop "Wake me up before you go go" into a project meeting.
