There is a lot of misconceptions still around Islam, just because culturally they dont gamble, eat pork, drink etc doesn't mean they have to be sheltered from every instance of it, it would be perfectly fine for us to have a gambling sponsor. it's only illegal/frowned upon for muslims to gamble etc. Just because we have saudi owners doesn't mean the club suddenly has to conform to Islamic practices.

Re: Toon Takeover Thread
It's interesting that the length of the deal hasn't been mentioned anywhere, just 'long term'.

Re: Toon Takeover Thread
Chronicle reporting that the takeover has been stalled ‘indefinitely’.
Re: Toon Takeover Thread
That is classic Chronicle, a nonsense statement that can't be disproved either way.

Re: Toon Takeover Thread
It's ridiculous, apparently they are trying to use the fact Bein have been banned from broadcasting in SA as a reason it can't pass which is ridiculous. They have been banned legally due to bundling, you could not get BeinSports in SA without buying lots of unnecessary extras. Selling this way is illegal in KSA and the World Trade Organisation supported SA right to do so. Yet all these journos will have you believe a sovereign nation is not allowed to control who is allowed to broadcast in their country.

Due to a diplomatic issue, it is also illegal for Saudi Arabians to to have any subscription service of any sort that transfers money to Qatar.
Its not just Saudi Arabia that enforces this either as several Middle Eastern nations have this embargo in place because Qatar was accused of supporting terrorism.

It's bordering on ridiculous how long the deal has been done and is just awaiting Premier League approval.
They're seemingly scared to make a decision as they know whatever they decide the fallout will be massive. If they reject it they'll face a very expensive legal battle. If they accept it, all the human rights do gooders will kick up a storm.
Surely they have to make a decision either way though. If they accept it, happy days and exciting times ahead. If they reject it, at least we have a resolution and we can get on with planning for next season.
Leaving us in limbo puts the club at a massive disadvantage with regards to preparing for the new season.

If it’s rejected we can do a City and go to the CAS and get it overturned
