Just when you thought it couldn't get any more embarrassing, Newcastle fans are now writing negative Trustpilot reviews for PL sponsors. Hitting these companies where it really hurts .
Kindly deeds done for free!

I think you seriously underestimate how companies feel about bad publicity.biggeordiedave wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 12:20 pmJust when you thought it couldn't get any more embarrassing, Newcastle fans are now writing negative Trustpilot reviews for PL sponsors. Sure, but I don't think the sponsors are going to now change their tune so that Newcastle fans stop writing up transparently bad online reviews. I've no doubt they were more afraid of the bad publicity of potential association with Saudi Arabia than some pissed off Geordies writing reviews.ALF wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 3:54 pmI think you seriously underestimate how companies feel about bad publicity.biggeordiedave wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 12:20 pmJust when you thought it couldn't get any more embarrassing, Newcastle fans are now writing negative Trustpilot reviews for PL sponsors. Re: Toon Takeover Thread - PIF Pull Out, Reuben Brothers still interested...?
But they wouldn't have had any association with Saudi Arabia. Now under every PL tweet you can't even find real replies. It's angry NUFC fans or fans of other clubs saying 'NUFC fans incoming'. As pathetic as it seems, it's killing the PL social media accounts and that's a huge thing in the world we live in now. They can't advertise any of their sponsors online as it just gets taken over.Remember Colo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 4:55 pmSure, but I don't think the sponsors are going to now change their tune so that Newcastle fans stop writing up transparently bad online reviews. Most of them already have dealings with Saudi Arabia.Remember Colo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 4:55 pmSure, but I don't think the sponsors are going to now change their tune so that Newcastle fans stop writing up transparently bad online reviews. So you really think Budweiser, Tag Heuer, Nike, Coca Cola etc. are going to worry about some pissed off Newcastle fans who didn't get their own way? Most of these businesses will be involved in dodgy s*** way bigger than whatever the PL do .ALF wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 3:54 pmI think you seriously underestimate how companies feel about bad publicity.biggeordiedave wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 12:20 pmJust when you thought it couldn't get any more embarrassing, Newcastle fans are now writing negative Trustpilot reviews for PL sponsors. Anyone else in the “don’t give a s*** about this” camp now or just me?

Of course they do, but nobody was talking about or probably even aware of them before. But that highlights the difference between Saudi investment in weapons, social media or broadcasting companies, vs. becoming the face of a Premier League football club. Football clubs are basically the most famous cultural institutions in the world nowadays, with rabid fans, and ownership groups that buy them to be very public figureheads - so the risk (for sponsors or the league) when you let one of the most controversial despots on earth buy a club, is that it inevitably draws more scrutiny/attention than any other normal business or government dealings.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 7:06 pmMost of them already have dealings with Saudi Arabia.Remember Colo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 4:55 pm

That might have stood true if it weren't for the likes of Tag Heuer recently running a big Saudi campaign about brining their watches to KSA.Remember Colo wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 2:51 pmOf course they do, but nobody was talking about or probably even aware of them before. Telegraph reporting that Ashley could take the Premier League to court over their handling of the Saudi bid.
Re: Toon Takeover Thread - PIF Pull Out, Reuben Brothers still interested...?
I don't doubt that at all. But nobody cares about their dodgy s***. When you sponsor a huge brand and that brand can't even tweet without getting a barrage of abuse and accusations, it doesn't exactly give them much incentive to invest into that brand any more.biggeordiedave wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 8:04 pmSo you really think Budweiser, Tag Heuer, Nike, Coca Cola etc. are going to worry about some pissed off Newcastle fans who didn't get their own way? Re: Toon Takeover Thread - PIF Pull Out, Reuben Brothers still interested...?
I don't give a s*** about the takeover. Want the Premier League corruption to come out though. I think that's been a long time coming and this could be the thing that brings it all out.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 9:23 pmAnyone else in the “don’t give a s*** about this” camp now or just me?

Well if any of those huge companies pull out of sponsorship deals with the PL because of this I will eat every hat in my house.ALF wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 5:12 pmI don't doubt that at all.
