Normally can't stand the guy but I don't mind Drake's new song. I think it's only because I like the instrumental so much that I'll put up with the Narcissistic, 'Yo, n****!' lyrics.

If I Die Tonight is amazing. But I think that, while still good, the rest of Me Against The World doesn't come close to that track. What else is similar to it, 2Pac fans?

Me Against The World is one of my favourite Pac albums. <cry>

What aspects of If I Die 2Nite appeal to you, or just the track in general?

Similar themes of courting death and disliking society. (Although these pervade the whole album, so not necessarily what you're after I guess?)

If it's the alliteration, I can't think of a similar track, so have some metaphors.

If you're delving into Pac I'd recommend just working chronologically from 2Pacalypse Now to The Don Killuminati. His evolution over those 5 years with the changing themes and moods through that period which sees him go from a young political activist to having the world at his feet by 21, shooting two cops at 22, getting shot 5 times at 23 the night before getting sentenced and ending up doing 11 months in prison before posting bail pending appeal, and then it all ending at 25 is crazy.

Don't get me wrong, I think the album is really good, but that track I think is particularly stand out.

Yep, I think the lyrics and use of language are great, and it takes a fair lot to get me interested in song lyrics regardless of genre - they're usually pseudo-poetic s*** - but I really like what he has done with this track. I think the verse rhythm is absolutely awesome too. Both of those tracks are sounding like amazing recommendations already on first listen. Cheers very much.

I'll take your advice and follow his releases in that order.

Legends Never Die is out. <divadance> Shame Sainsbury's has delayed my order (so some reason they list a lot of obscure albums on their site, usually showing as OOS, but decided to give it a shot for this pre-order). <grr> From what I've heard of it so far RA might very well be at his peak of consistency. <awe>

That last track makes me sad for what Tech has become (musically, at least), five years ago he'd have tried to match or exceed RA instead of phoning in that shitty verse. <cry>

Did you get around to listening to more Pac then? If so how did you find it?

I got 2pacalypse Now and haven't gotten around the getting hold of the rest yet, but I really like it - it's actually pretty damn flawless actually. It's not as good as parts of Me Against The World but there's not a bad track on it either. I'm not fond of the singing on his tracks, but his vocals are great so the singing is ignorable. Sorry for not following up on this sooner, I'm probably going to get S4MN this weekend.

Worldwide Choppers. <erk> Much preferred the first Midwest Choppers. Although then again I'm not really a fan of anything of his post K.O.D. (and the Lost Scripts).

I quite like it. I love pretty much most Tech N9ne stuff and Strange Music. So underrated.
