Albums you are looking forward to.

Post by Vaj » Mon Feb 06, 2012 3:18 pm

2012 should be a good year for music in my opinion. Here are some albums that should be released this year that I am looking forward to...

Biffy Clyro - they are apparently releasing a double sided album some time this year (probably around summer time) with around 20 tracks on and considering each album gets better and better...it should be a cracker!

Lostprophets - they have already revealed one track and it has been played for the first time recently, entitled 'Better off Dead' and judging by this song, it could be a very good album which will be a bit heavier than the last few and should be out in April/May.

Guns 'n' Roses - yes they have gone down hill since Slash & Co left, but they are still a good band with some good guitar solo's etc. so it will still be worth a listen, but I won't be holding my breath about this being released, you know what Axl is like.

Prodigy - They should have a new album out this year, probably in time for Download and it should be a good one!

Then last, but certainly by no means least...

Metallica - I really can't wait for this one, you'd expect that it will be out at the back end of this year, I'd guess at around October. It is meant to be the modern version of The Black Album and will be a lot 'simpler' than Death Magnetic. This will be the album of the year!

What albums are you lot looking forward to this year?

All of those sound good to me, although I lost interest in Lostprophets after their second album. Hopefully Metallica's album will be nothing like "Lulu".

There's a lot of random metal/hardcore stuff coming out this year that I keep forgetting about, but new Pig Destroyer is high on my interests.

New hip-hip/rap albums from P.O.S. and Method Man as ,I believe.

I am wiping that crap from my memory, but considering it was all written by Lou Reed and he sang most of it, I think we can assume it will be nothing like that. Nevertheless there were some good guitar riff's in Lulu, so it showed some promise regarding Metallica and future 'solo' albums.

<scratch>

Lulu wasn't really a Metallica album at all, as you've said Lou Reed wrote and 'sang' most of it, they were just his back up band. I can't wait for the new album, especially if it's less of the Death Magnetic. I prefer the older stuff by far but Black Album-esque is better than St Anger -esque.

Don't knock Little Mix.

Definitely these two. Would have added Lostprophets but I have very low hopes for that record now that they've butchered what was actually a good song in Bring 'Em Down, and whilst Better Off Dead is good if that's the best they've got to offer I'll stick to the first four albums myself <ok>

Others, via a quick browse of Wiki:

Billy Talent - there's always been something about them that held me back from quite liking them, but they can write music, and they're now going for a "new direction"...

Green Day - apparently this is back to their old style. I like most of their stuff, so...

Linkin Park - wonder what they'll do next, plus Thousand Suns was good IMO

The Offspring - these guys always have a few hits even if they are the wrong side of 50

Marilyn Manson - I'm not out of high school yet, I'm allowed to think this might potentially be cool

Tenacious D - well, come on, you've got to love these guys.

Frankly, apart from a lot of bands from the 80s and 90s going for one last hurrah (Black Sabbath, Metallica, even Prodigy I must admit) this isn't really as good a year for the music I like as I thought it might be nearer the beginning. Especially as half the ones I've chosen won't make it out this year :(

You, my friend, have a cracking music taste.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the Offspring the most, Billy Talent have never failed to deliver with a f***ing brilliant album either though...

Weezer? Heard that might be releasing something.
I love the Gouff.

Anyone else like Band of Skulls? Their new album is out this month, hopefully it's just as good as the first one which was quality.

Also I think Muse are gonna release their 6th studio album this year <diva>
