Sure! I'd prefer that you don't recommend heavy rock/metal though as I'll be revising when I listen You have any preferences or do you not mind?Livin' Davide Loca wrote:Happy to do another if you want?

Townes van Zandt - Townes van Zandt
It's quiet enough to not invade your revision but still a great album that's worth listening to properly at some point

The Menzingers - On The Impossible Past
Spotify link: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
One of my favourite albums of all time despite the fact that i don't really listen to much else in that genre Did take me a couple listens to really get into it though!
I can suggest other albums from different genres if you don't like it

That's probably why I like it so muchLivin' Davide Loca wrote:Screaming Females - 'Ugly'
Definitely enjoyed this album, don't often listen to this kind of stuff (not really sure what it is but reminded me of Dinosaur Jr, to make a very vague comparison) but it had good riffs and solidly entertaining tunes. Highlights for me were Expire, Doom 84 and Something Ugly. It'll probably get another listen somewhere down the line
Those three tracks are great as well

The Nihilist - Liam Finn
Just weird enough to make you want to listen all the way through and probably not quite weird enough to make it something truly special. I loved all the electronic bits thrown into the songs and the general spacey atmosphere of the whole album. I think Burn Up the Road, despite being the straightest song on the album, is the best by far.

Better than I was expecting you to give it I agree with what you've said. This is the first album where he's gone predominantly for experimental stuff though so hopefully the next can get that bit weirderRamone wrote:The Nihilist - Liam Finn

Agree about Burn Up The Road, personally love 4 Track Stomper and Ocean Emmanuelle as well.

Townes van Zandt - Townes van Zandt
Good recommendation Livin' Davide Loca! Favourite song is definitely Waitin' Around To Die. But it's followed closely by For The Sake of the Song, Lungs, and Fare Thee Well, Miss Carousel. Good album to have playing in the background (which I did on first listen) but probably better to actually listen to the lyrics properly (which I did when listening to it just now) as that's the album's strength.
Overall, I wouldn't say it's anything special but it was definitely enjoyable. I'll be listening to it again at some point.
I may come back and give it 4 stars if I still like it when I listen to it again in the near future

Re: Album Swap
Good to hear you enjoyed it, it's one of my go to albums when I just want something pretty easy to listen to. The three you picked are definitely three of my favourites as well, along with (Quicksilver Daydreams of) Maria so good choices

The Menzingers - On The Impossible Past
Gave it a listen and it didn't really stand out that much to me. A couple of solid songs (Gate, Nice Things) which I'll definitely be giving another listen but the rest of the album just sort of blurred into one for me, sorry. Sounded a bit like Manchester Orchestra in parts which is always a poitive though!
Would be up for trying a different album though, seeing as you offered

It's strange that the album got pretty great reviews from the critics but only one (of the many!) people I've made listen to them has actually liked them

You haven't mentioned a preference for a type of music so I'll give you a couple albums to listen to if/when you get bored
Half Moon Run - Dark Eyes - A pretty solid album in my opinion and one which sounds even better live
Spotify Link: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Foreign Fields - Anywhere But Where I Am - Great background/relaxing music
Spotify Link: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I have no idea if you'll like either of those to be honest But there's no harm in trying something new. Feel free to recommend any other albums to me

Re: Album Swap
It's not that I didn't like The Menzingers' album, it was just a bit generic. Still enjoyable though
I've got literally f*** all going on in my life at the moment In kind of limbo where I'm the only one home early and mates are still at uni so listening to music and tv stuff is all I have right now. Cheers for the recommendations, I'll give both a listen. Heard a couple of songs by Half Moon Run before and they were good from what I remember - never heard of Foreign Fields though!
What kind of stuff do you like? Are you just looking for more quiet stuff or heavy as well?

I don't think I've ever experienced that situation; I always seem to be the one who finishes exams last so I'm the last to get the 'freedom' feeling I tried to pick albums that you were less likely to have heard of so that's good Hope you like one of them at least.
I'd prefer something quieter at the moment as I've got exams for another 3 weeks You can recommended heavier stuff if you want but it'll be a month or so before I'd listen to it properly
