I just can't stand the "banter" on that programme. It's so forced <neg>.

Top Gear has been going downhill for years. It used to be a nice blend of car reviews along with inventive segments but now it's just a showcase for Clarkson, Hammond and May to do whatever the hell they want, it's not so much a car show anymore as a documentary on the mid-life crisis.

Clarkson isn't having a mid-life crisis, he's always been an epic fanny. James May is alright and does know a lot about cars, unlike Jezza who's more interest in selling his s*** DVD at christmas. Hammond is Clarkson in miniature.

I'm not bothering to list the programmes I think are s***, I only watch sport.

From the one episode I watched, it had about as much appeal as Not Going Out.

The Soprano's. Kept hearing the hype and stupidly bought the box set of the entire series thinking I was sure to like it. Tried to watch it three times now and have just about managed to struggle through to the end of series one.

Totally failing to see what all the fuss was about. Average to poor in my opinion and I like James Gandolfini.

Unless somebody manages to convince me that it gets much much better I won't be bothering to watch any of the rest.

It gets so, so much better. It has been years since I watched it now, but I recall the first season being a clichéd eye-roller to begin with and then mediocre and formulaic by the end. But it improves about an evenly large chunk each season, especially when new characters are introduced. Its attention to detail is spectacular: the way it uses nuance and suggestion to advance plotlines, fool you into thinking its advancing plotlines, or even hinting at potential plotlines that may or may not come into fruition. When in full swing, it's constantly treating its audience like the intelligent people they ought to be. I'd say it's definitely worth giving time.
