Favourite supporting role?

Post by Alfie » Sat Jun 08, 2013 7:16 pm

Just thought I'd ask the symposium. Who is your favourite supporting actor or actress? Everyone has a favourite actor who's the star of a film but what about those who aren't the leading role?

I have 2 nominations -

Paul Bettany, Geoffrey Chaucer, A knight's tale. Brilliant, funny.

Samuel L Jackson, Jules Winfield, Pulp Fiction, robbed of an Oscar.
And in conclusion, how far had you got through reading this before you realised it was my signature?

Didn't really like him much in the films but in the books the character of Faramir (LotR) is f***ing awesome <awe>

Eli Wallach, Tuco, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Benicio Del Toro, Dr Gonzo, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Gary Oldman, Norman Stansfield, Leon: The Professional

Christopher Lloyd, Dr Brown, Back to the Future

Just a few to start.

Samuel L Jackson wasn't the supporting actor in Pulp Fiction for me.

I wouldn't really say anybody could be called a lead in it though...

He won a Bafta & nominated for an Oscar as best supporting actor but yeah I agree with you. Travolta was supposedly lead. I thought was one of Bruce Willis' best acting roles. Harvey Keitel was brilliant as well.

Yeah it's really funny to distinguish who's what in Pulp. I suppose I attribute Samuel to it though for being the most memorable and quoteable character in it.

Christiph Waltz had been fantastic throughout his career. He needs a leading role now!

Daniel Day-Lewis is incredible in Gangs of New York <awe>

I'd also say Leonardo DiCaprio in What's Eating Gilbert Grape
