Expecting the return of Sherlock next summer?
Try late 2013. Perhaps even 2014, depending where you live.
Start of production on the third cycle of the fan-adored detective drama has been moved from January to March. Sources say the shift was necessary to accommodate the busy schedules of the show’s breakout stars, Benedict Cumberbatch (who’s in Star Trek 2) and Martin Freeman (starring in The Hobbit).
The BBC has not announced a premiere date for season three, but given that January was previously announced as the start of production, fans hoped to see Holmes and Watson return in the summer. Sources say the BBC will air Sherlock series three in late 2013. PBS has to wait until after the BBC’s window. A PBS spokesperson says Sherlock will air either late 2013 — or early 2014.
The first cycle of Sherlock debuted in the UK in July, 2010. The eagerly anticipated second season premiered last January, with PBS debuting the three 90-minute episodes in May. With its second season cliffhanger and increasing critical acclaim and worldwide buzz, anticipation for the next cycle of Sherlock is stronger than ever. From the BBC’s perspective, however, nothing about its schedule has really changed. Though production is starting slightly later than originally hoped, the company has only previously said the show will run sometime next year and recently hinted that a fall debut is likely.

They can't help it if Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are busyMifune wrote:BBC are s*** .
I don't expect Sherlock to be commissioned beyond series three, as people have said, Cumberbatch and Freeman are too famous and busy now which is a great shame because it's a fantastic series.

Martin Freeman was on something a while back, can't remember what (maybe Graham Norton) and he said that The Hobbit would take at least 18 months (shooting 2 films back to back) so I don't see him doing Sherlock until after that.
And in conclusion, how far had you got through reading this before you realised it was my signature?

Tonight.
Also there's a shitty 7-8 minute teaser somewhere on the BBC site, but it's not worth the watch.

So much suspense. I think it might become a one man show, just Dr Watson being an alcoholic and making increasingly rash decisions and ending up shooting Lestrade.Cal wrote:Do you think he's coming back? There's so much suspense.Speedo wrote:

Actually that sounds quite fun, maybe I should pitch it to the Beeb.

Loved all the teasers for how he did

The train tunnel thing made no sense. As if the guy with all the maps of the tunnels wouldn't notice the abandoned tunnel when that was exactly what he was looking for.

or that he wouldnt notice that there was a train carriage missing, despite him noticing that the bloke went missing in the first place...
Re: Sherlock (BBC)
He isn't Sherlock, he's not allowed to solve it. I did like the meta-commentary on the theorising fans though.

It was fine, just not up there with the better episodes. Lack on an engaging outside character spoiled the episode. But measuring it to other tv, not to the best of Sherlock it came out ok

Yeah this was the most ridiculous thing, he'd obviously studied the footage pretty intently to notice the bloke get on and not get off, but didn't notice an entire carriage disappear. The missing tunnel was bizarre, you'd only have to take a ride down there on a train to see it. And would it even be possible to get the carriage down there? You wouldn't be able to drive a single carriage surely?

Worse than the silly 'Hound' one?AbsolutelyGlorious wrote:Beatski wrote:SpoilerShowor that he wouldnt notice that there was a train carriage missing, despite him noticing that the bloke went missing in the first place...I thought it was by far the worst episode of the show so far. The last episode was spoiled by the fact he wasn't actually dead for me, and it wasn't really satisfactorily explained in this one. I think the next two episodes will be back up to standard though. Such a shame that they've pissed an entire third of the series away like that though.SpoilerShowYeah this was the most ridiculous thing, he'd obviously studied the footage pretty intently to notice the bloke get on and not get off, but didn't notice an entire carriage disappear.
