The songs are hilarious, the stuff inbetween was excellent, especially love all of the dealings with the record company and the guy who owns 'Espresso Yourself'. Some of the social commentary was well done as well with exchanges like:

Henry: 'of course I didn't say those things'
Ellen: 'but they're in the paper!'

and the Stupid Joe character. Just refreshingly clever non-pandering comedy which is a new personal favourite. Only quibble is that it sagged ever so slightly in the middle but it completely made up for it <awe>

John Cougar Concentrationcamp <laugh>
Watching Week 2 film and it's not even Week 2 <disgrace>

Also tell me where you found it so I can watch it <ski>
Get adblock. I don't think there's many on sockshare (putlocker clone) but it's safer with it.

Seven Waves Away (1957)

I quite enjoyed this. I've always found these sort of ethical and moral dilemmas really interesting to think about I thought it the situation presented here was handled well and in a surprisingly frank and grim manner. As others have said Alec Holmes and Edith Middleton were the stand out characters, I particularly thought Holmes' slow realisation that he's going to have to essentially murder a large number of people was portrayed excellently by Tyrone Power. I wasn't really satisfied with the ending though, the ship turning up out of nowhere and everyone bar Julie and Edith turning on Holmes felt pretty contrived. Some of the acting was a little bit hammy, especially Julie and Sparks but I suppose that's a bit of an inevitability given the era that the film was made in.

The currently available versions of Punching the Clown on a certain criminal cove differs from what I have, so I'll see which is better. I also have the real DVD on its way and due to arrive sometime soon. <divax>

It's pretty much the same quality. PM me if you need help.

I'm not sure if you're meant to review your own submission but I'm going to since only one person has reviewed it so far. <fist>

Punching the Clown (2009)

ImageImageImageImageImage
SpoilerShow
I wish that I could have seen it before seeing him open for Doug Stanhope so that there would be more surprise to the songs, which are part of his routine, but they're still great. It's a refreshingly different and deadpan semi-biographical satire about the absurdity of being a struggling performer in L.A., as well as life in general, that manages to perfectly capture the awkward helplessness of conversing with people who just don't get or care about what you're saying.

The less you know about it going in the better, but it definitely holds up to repeat viewings (I hate watching films multiple times, saw this first in 2011, then three times in the past two months or so), and if you can get a hold of the DVD, the commentary is interesting. If you've enjoyed this, I recommended seeing him live if you ever get the chance (I don't think there are any full recordings online?) and checking our his youtube channel and You and You f***ing Coffee.
