Netflix Recommendations

Post by Duke » Tue Dec 30, 2014 9:12 pm

So I got Netflix again and after 5 movies or so realised I'd already watched everything on it actually worth watching.

The search/recommendation function on it is f***ing s***, and since nearly everyone on here is so incredibly harsh with their movie/tv critique I feel like you'd be good for some recommendations on movies and TV programs.

<gentmas>

By the way I've already watched all of Breaking Bad
I dunno

I thought It's Always Sunny on Philadelphia was decent as a comedy series, I think some people on here disagreed.

House of Cards is pretty damn good in my opinion and there's only a couple seasons to catch up on <ok> I only had Netflix for a month so can't remember what else they actually have on there.

Definitely watch Always Sunny, one of the funniest shows I've ever seen.

I'll second Archer. Black Books is one there, Filth, High Fidelity, Louis Theroux Documentaries. If you don't mind arthouse style/15 minute long sex scenes look up, Blue is the Warmest Colour

The Louis Theroux Documentaries are a good shout, there's quite a few of them and they're all decent.

Netflix UK is getting worse. 189 removals today in exchange for a whole 4 additions. http://netflix.maft.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'd recommend pairing it with Unblock-US/Zenmate/similar to make Netflix think you're in a different region, then using that to access a much wider catalogue. http://www.moreflicks.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is a good way to see everything and what region you need to get it. There have been some reports of them cracking down on this recently, but they've denied that's the case.

Started watching Parks and Rec (skipped 1st season). It's pretty good, although the mockumentary format adds nothing. EDIT may only be on the American version

It felt too much like a rip-off of The Office (US) to me, with the main character as a female Michael Scott.

Edit - I only watched a few episodes of season 1, might get better afterwards.

Not watched loads of the Office, the style is the same but the main character seems differnet. Scott is self-centred and berkish whereas Leslie is idealistic, un selfish and a bit niave. And her staff like her. It's less cringe comedy too (that puts me off the office)

EDIT to EDIT
Was told the first season is poor, basically skip it.

I watched the first season and gave up on it. Came back to it last summer and gave it another chance, I can confirm that second season onwards its considerably better.

If you like Ron Swanson, the actor who plays him (Nick Offerman) has a stand-up routine on Netflix UK.
