Anyone watch Maniac

Finished there the other night, not sure exactly what it was about really
I thought it was alright. Not in a hurry to watch it again.

Thought it was good, very good performances from Jonah Hill and Justin Theroux.

f***ing awful episode, holy crap. First five or so episodes were great, then it all started falling apart in a big mush of extended monologues, embarrassing dialogue and weepy sentiment. Gutted, it promised so much. <erk>

Yeah Jonah was very good. Almost too good, it made me quite uncomfortable to watch. I think the reason I didn't really enjoy it was because there was no real character I wanted to root for.

Just watched episode 10, was concerned it’d creep me out so much I couldn’t sleep. Instead we got... that. How incredibly boring. Not a single frightening moment. Episode 9 was underwhelming too.

How to ruin a strong show in 2 hours <erk>

Pretty much agree with what both of you have said.

Think I'm onto episode 9 of Hill House now.

Got through hill house the other month, took me a few days to sleep properly again 😂, I liked the last 2 episodes but did feel the ending could have been a bit better, but it wasn't enough to ruin it imo. I think they will be another season to wrap up a few things.

Finished the new season of The Sinner. Thought it was a bit of a let down compared to last season, and the ending didn't really make much sense.

iirc the writer/creator said he was finished with that family, and any season 2 will be completely unrelated.

Hill House and season 2 of The Sinner were both decent but lacked some crucial elements to make them stand-outs I thought. Watching Unsolved about Tupac and Biggie which is decent background TV for anyone who has an interest in that

OT (and others), I thoroughly recommend the surreal and silly 'Kentaro: the Sweet tooth salaryman'. A Japanese man get s a sales job so he can quickly do visits and satiate his need to visit cafes in Toyko for dessert. So part office comedy, part food show, part Japanese surrealism. Based on real cafes and the eating/dream sequences are creatively bizarre. Really want to visit all the places now. MATCHA BAVARIAN CREAM.

Just finished it, definitely not as good as the first series and I called her Dad being involved from about the 2nd episode.

I thought the ending made sense.

Just thought it was weird that the kid completely got away with a murder and the woman who essentially kidnapped him was painted as a good person

i thought it was a bit of a slow ending rather than disappointing. I can see why you the kid got away with it (with 4 years in a home) but yeah, you’d have thought that something would have happened to the mum.
