Rugby World Cup 2023
The competition kicks off in anger tomorrow night and I've got a fridge full of beer and Guinness and the racks have been filled up with wine.
Already some controversy about the tournament and I'm not talking about the ticketing... 11 bloody hours over two days trying to secure the Nice package and for one wonderful moment - I was on the £-@*+Ng purchase page!!!!
I've digressed...
The draw was made about 18 months ago and it's a tad lopsided with a vast majority of the top teams in one half and England in the other.
Scotland are ranked 5th in the world now but the group also contains the 1st and 2nd best ranked.
England (ranked 8th) have to play Argentina (ranked 6th) and the rest are ranked outside the top 10 or some miners from Chile (probably)
Favourites are the French as it's on home turf but I'm looking at South Africa to power it home.

Not a rugby fan, but quite happy that England have absolutely zero chance of winning (being born in Scotland, and half Irish).
I'm the scumbag outlaw. You're the pillar of justice. Neither of us like looking at ourselves in the mirror. Do we have a deal?
Re: Rugby World Cup 2023
I honestly only see them beating Chile at this rate. England have been proper s**** for the last 5 or so years. Argies even won at Twickenham a few months ago... First time ever I believe.Bodacious Benny wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 11:37 amNot a rugby fan, but quite happy that England have absolutely zero chance of winning (being born in Scotland, and half Irish).
I'm backing Scotland & NZ.

France played really well last night and set down a marker. You can say it's not a great All Blacks team at the moment but it's still the All Blacks!
Italy hammered Namibia but was strange to watch as usually you look at Italy in the Six Nations tiring after 50/60 minutes but this time it was Namibia.

Re: Rugby World Cup 2023
Had a few friends harping on about how the Northern Hemisphere teams have come on leaps and bounds and we're now well ahead of the Southern hemisphere.
The quarter finals put that to bed pretty quick!
Some fantastic matches though! My Dad spent all of the weekend calling me and I noticed two things:
1) He hasn't watched rugby in about 30 years so I had to explain the rules to him during all the QF matches.
2) Found out his stream was 3 minutes behind so whatever I explained to him wasn't making sense
