Snooker - World Championship

Post by tomtom94 » Sat Apr 21, 2012 9:08 pm

If you like to see men stroking balls around a table, then if you're AH stop looking at that porn and everyone else - comment on this thread. <ok>

So it's the Snooker World Championships once more, held as ever in the glamorous town of Sheffield. Today we've seen a former champion (and a qualifier at that) hit a maximum break; and as I write John Higgins is still playing 9-8 up against a young Chinese wonderkid but in very real danger of elimination.

Obviously if you don't like snooker feel free also to comment about why it is you don't like it, so we can get in a good old discussion. <cheers>

Go Higgins! Got a bet on him.

Never watched snooker before but watched his game yesterday (in which he he just managed to scrape through) and it was thoroughly enjoyable. A very exciting game.

I enjoy watching snooker. I wish I followed it a lot more. I normally keep on eye on the World Championships though.

The young lad Luca Brecel whose coach likened him to Alex Higgins is currently playing... he's not doing too well. <laugh> 3-0 down, was just building a good break when he potted the cue ball. Him needing 7 attempts to get out of one of Steven Maguire's snookers in the third frame (having just conceded the second frame from a strong position) hasn't helped.

Hendry 147, boom! Maybe he is back on form http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/snooker/17800969" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Mark Allen, needing the black to win the frame and stay in contention, succeeds in potting the black... only for the cue ball to roll into the top left pocket, thus gifting the frame and match to his opponent. <laugh>

I'll find a link when it inevitably goes up online. He looked FURIOUS.

EDIT: He's subsequently complained about his opponent. I liked Mark Allen but I'm starting to wish he could keep his mouth shut.

I know, he was always gonna lose but he showed some promise and a bit of character. Like the way he started smacking the balls around when he'd won. The game needs a fun tossarse like that.

Brecel is like Trump was when he first came onto the scene, bit overawed by the occasion first time round, bit inexperienced. Next year we'll see what he's really made of. Also to hold Stephen Maguire (former world no.2 lest we forget) to 10-5 having been the best part of 5 frames down deserves merit in itself especially at the tender age of 17. He will go far.

EDIT: Lee-Higginson is the worst game of snooker I have ever witnessed. Neither of them have anything resembling cue control. Stephen Lee looks drunk.

Now world no.1 (how?) Mark Selby is on the verge of a first-round elimination to Barry Hawkins, one of those players I swear has been around forever.

I don't like Selby, never have and I don't know why.

Surprised Ding went out, but what a final frame.

I don't have a clue who any of them are but i enjoy watching it! Not really a fan of 147's, i'm more interested in snookers and people trying to get out of them (tactical shots essentially) <ok>

Looks that way though I'm pretty sure we have said the same in the past. It remains to be seen if he can capitalise on this current lucid moment of form.

What chance of O'Sullivan and Hendry meeting at some point and if so what round would it be?
