The US Open Tennis

Nadal's pulled out:
Rafael Nadal wrote:I am very sad to announce that I am still not ready to play. I am sorry since I always found great crowds and great support, but I have to continue with my recuperation and preparation to be ready to play in the right conditions. I want to say hi and thanks to all the fans, in particular to the New Yorkers. I'll miss you all this year at the Open!
A real shame for the tournament which was looking like being one of the most open slams for a while with Murray making a breakthrough of sorts in the Olympics and Del Potro looking back to his best. Presumably Ferrer will be the 4th seed, but I hope Del Potro's in his quarter.

I think Djokovic will win. Despite what the rankings say he's still the best in the world in my opinion, his form hasn't been great in the last few months but I think he'll be back to his best for the US Open.

Always a shame to see the best players pull out, but it is clear to see something isn't right with him, as shown when he got knocked out of Wimbledon to Lukas Rosol.

Hope not can't stand Del Potro, think it will probably be Federer again.

Del Potro <awe>
The way he hits his groundstrokes and serve is so weird but so powerful.

Laura won! <diva>

She played brilliantly, that proved that she didn't deserve all the stick after the Olympics.

Na Li next up for Robson, then Stosur if she gets through that, then Azarenka. Terrible draw. Great performance so far though.

Murray's the only man through to round three after four days. They never seem to get the scheduling right at the US Open, every other major manages. Extra day off for Murray. <diva>

It was always going to be a tough draw for Laura because of her ranking. I highly doubt she'll get through the next round, Li Na is in good form and is a class act so I don't see laura winning. Would be a nice surprise though <ok> And yeah, this scheduling makes no sense to me. They have Federer, Murray and Djokovic all playing on different days for some reason, why don't they have it like all the other Slams and have one half of the draw playing on one day and the other half on the next?
