A major's a major regardless of where it's won. 12 is an amazing haul. Nadal's four away from Roland Garros isn't "pretty poor", it's only two less than Djokovic has won in total, and Djokovic has only won two outside Australia.

I know 12 is an amazing haul, but when you think how good Nadal is and that he's been playing for 8 years. You would have thought he'd have more outside of clay. I'm not trying to downplay his achievements, it just surprised me when I heard it, that's all.

He plays in a great era and there are a lot of hard court specialists. He's been beaten in three or four finals by Djokovic and couple by Federer. I think it just shows how dominant he is on clay really. He's a clay court specialist but he's good enough to have been able to win on other surfaces too. Federer and Djokovic only have one French Open between them because of Nadal, and he only has a couple of Wimbledons and a couple of hard court majors because of Federer and Djokovic.

He has also won an Olympic singles gold medal (which was on hard court) which neither Federer or Djokovic have done. He also beat Federer to win Wimbledon and the Australian Open, and Djokovic to win the US Open; while Djokovic has not won the French Open, and the only reason Federer has won it was because Nadal was injured. Nadal also has a winning head-to-head against both Federer and Djokovic. Plus he has won the most Masters 1000 events ever, and has won the Davis Cup.

If his body holds up he could still easily win four more majors at least.

I get your points, I guess I'm just against clay court specialists because clay is my least favourite surface to watch people play on.
